Verstappen legt de lat hoog voor volgend seizoen

Max Verstappen reed dinsdag bij de bandentest in Abu Dhabi zijn laatste rondjes met de Scuderia Toro Rosso STR10. De Verstappen Info Page zocht de 18-jarige Nederlander op om het voorbije seizoen de revue te laten passeren en alvast wat vooruit te blikken op volgend jaar. Verstappen is in zijn nopjes met zijn prestaties in 2015 en hij is ambitieus voor 2016.

"Terugkijkend op mijn eerste Formule 1-seizoen ben ik heel tevreden", vertelt Max aan Verstappen.nl. "Met twee vierde plaatsen was het een heel goed seizoen. We zaten dicht bij het podium, dat hadden we vooraf niet verwacht. Ik heb veel punten gescoord en ben bovendien zes keer achter elkaar in de punten gefinisht. Het is belangrijk om ook heel constant te zijn. We kunnen het een heel goed seizoen noemen."

"Het ging steeds beter in de kwalificaties, dus ik kreeg betere startposities. Dat mijn inhaalacties super lukten, hielp enorm, maar een vierde plaats had ik nooit verwacht. Je moet wat geluk hebben, er waren wat uitvallers, maar dan moet je er wel zijn om die vierde plek over te nemen. Zeker mijn eerste P4 in Hongarije was heel speciaal, die was totaal onverwacht. Ik kwam over de finish en zag het hele team in de hekken hangen, al schreeuwend en stuiterend van blijdschap. Dat maakte het extra mooi."

"De vierde plaats in Austin was het hoogtepunt van het seizoen. Dat was een super race: we hadden de snelheid en de baan was half nat en half droog, dat was geweldig mooi. Onder die moeilijke omstandigheden heb ik de hele race foutloos gereden. De auto voelde super aan en het team had de juiste strategie qua pitstops. We hadden het allemaal perfect voor elkaar."

"Inhalen is altijd lastig, zeker met een motor die vermogen te kort komt en tegenover de beste coureurs ter wereld. Dat is een gevoel en inzicht en lastig uit te leggen. Maar het is belangrijk om een bocht goed uit te komen om te kunnen aanvallen."

Als coureur wil je altijd leren, maar ook laten zien wat je kunt. Ik denk dat ik dat perfect heb weten te combineren. Je moet jezelf altijd blijven verbeteren, op elk gebied. Het is nooit goed genoeg. Ik kan me nog ontwikkelen als coureur en op fysiek vlak, maar ervaring is het allerbelangrijkste. Die komt vanzelf, maar moet je vervolgens wel benutten.”

"Ik wil het in 2016 beter doen dan dit jaar, op alle gebieden. Beter kwalificeren, meer punten scoren en betere resultaten halen. Je moet de lat hoog leggen, dus ik ga voor een verdubbeling van het aantal punten en een derde plaats dus het podium."

Hopen maar dat we volgend jaar wat meer regen in de races zien en dat hij er zo een knotsgekke van kan winnen. Hongarije 2006 of Silverstone 2008 stijl. Waar echt alles constant omgegooid wordt.

  Nurburgring 99 is legendarisch! Heb m laatst bijna helemaal teruggekeken op youtube; wat een fantastische race was dat. Seizoen was sowieso het gekste seizoen dat ik gezien heb in de F1.

Wil hij volgend jaar nog steeds bij de grote teams opvallen dan zal de lat ook hoger moeten. En dat is normaal. Ik hoop dat het chassis niet minder is in combinatie met de Ferrari motor. Maar wel super hoor een Ferrari motor.

Veel zal er vanaf hangen hoeveel winst de fabrikanten boeken met hun 2016 motoren of TR in staat is wat te presteren. Is de winst niet meer dan 20- 40 pk dan zie ik TR met een doorontwikkeld chassis van dit jaar inderdaad beter presteren in 2016 t.o.v. 2015. Maar word het verschil groter dan ben ik bang dat TR achteraan gaat bungelen en dat zou doodzonde zijn.

  Ben het grotendeels met je eens.... hebben ze genoeg tijd om het chassis door te ontwikkelen? of bljft het met het aanpassen van de achterkant van de wagen. Omdat het vrij laat was dat ze met Ferrari in zee gingen.

  Contracten schijnen al maanden rond te zijn geweest, en er is ook al een achterkant ontworpen voor de 2015 motor. Het wachten was op de goedkeuring van de WMSC. Dit zijn wel geruchten maar zou me niks verbazen
