Alonso: "Ik rijd in 2016 gewoon voor McLaren"

Afgelopen week ging er het gerucht rond dat Fernando Alonso in 2016 misschien een jaar 'pauze' zou nemen, om één seizoen later weer terug te keren in de Formule 1. De Spanjaard bevestigt dit weekend echter dat hij volgend jaar 'gewoon' op de grid staat voor McLaren.

"Ik heb vrijdag met Ron Dennis gepraat hierover," laat de tweevoudig wereldkampioen weten. "Wat gepubliceerd is klopte niet helemaal met wat er werd bedoeld. Ik ben er in 2016 gewoon bij."

Jenson Button is blij met het nieuws dat zijn teamgenoot voor volgend seizoen niet verandert. "Alonso is een goede teamgenoot. Hij heeft net als ik veel ervaring, en daardoor is de feedback richting het team erg goed. Hierdoor kunnen wij beter de auto ontwikkelen dan twee jonge coureurs. Het is de perfecte situatie voor het team, en het voelt goed om deel uit te maken van de ontwikkeling."
