Massa: "Formule 1 niet makkelijk, alleen anders"

De hedendaagse Formule 1 is echt niet makkelijker dan het pakweg tien jaar geleden was. Dat stelt Williams-coureur Felipe Massa. De Braziliaan heeft nog de tijdperken met de V10- en V8-motoren meegemaakt. Hij vindt niet dat de Formule 1 niet uitdagend genoeg meer is voor rijders.

Massa: "Toen we nog bij mochten tanken tijdens de races waren we inderdaad een klap sneller, maar dat betekent niet dat de auto's van nu makkelijker te besturen zijn. Het is alleen anders." Het is volgens hem te simplistisch om de rondetijden van nu met die van begin deze eeuw te vergelijken.

"Ik hoor om me heen wel eens dat de Formule 1 belachelijk makkelijk is, maar ik weet zeker dat al die oud-coureurs de nodige moeite hebben om deze wagens in het rechte spoor te houden. Als je het me vraagt, dan geef ik ook de voorkeur aan auto's met meer downforce. Maar daardoor worden ze nog niet moeilijker. Fysiek misschien wel, maar de bolides zijn dan niet opeens lastiger om te besturen."

    en dat fysieke aspect zie ik nou juist graag terugkeren, het heeft voor mij wel wat extra's wetende dat de rijders zich flink moeten inspannen ipv extra nadenken welke settings ze op hun stuurwiel moeten selecteren.

      Ik denk dat hij met fysiek de G-krachten bedoeld, doordat de bochten snelheid hoger ligt met meer downforce. Het gas geven, schakelen en sturen zal niet zwaarder zijn volgens mij.

      Juiste settings vinden is ook een manier van racen. Het is alleen een nieuwe manier van racen:)

      ja dat is precies wat ik bedoel, de bochtensnelheden moeten zodanig omhoog dat het kopje van de romp wil rollen, de rechtelijn snelheden zijn voor de coureurs nooit echt problematisch geweest. Coureurs zijn teveel denkers en met andere dingen bezig terwijl ik ze het liefst lichamelijk uitgeput zie uitstappen na een race

      haha.... ja net als alle anderen hier hihi.... ik mag het toch totaal oneens zijn met Massa.... ook al is het nergens op gebaseerd . Het is puur mijn mening... en ik moet zeggen dat alles wat Massa zegt ik met een korrel zout neem, en dat is dan weer weer ergens op gebaseerd.
