Verstappen bewandelt nu weg der geleidelijkheid

Max Verstappen schoot als een komeet van de karting via de Formule 3 naar de Formule 1. Ook in de koningsklasse van de autosport zette die opmars zich voort met uitzonderlijke prestaties en mooie resultaten. Dusdanig zelfs dat zijn naam in de wandelgangen reeds in verband werd gebracht met een topteam als Ferrari. Maar de jonge Nederlander ligt daar niet wakker van.

Verstappen bewandelt voorlopig de weg der geleidelijkheid in de Formule 1 en blijft bij Scuderia Toro Rosso. Aan Autosport deelde hij mede: "Ik sta er vrij ontspannen in. Het is positief dat mensen je linken aan een overstap naar Ferrari. Het is leuk om te horen, maar ik ben tevreden met waar ik nu ben. Ik heb nog veel te leren en Toro Rosso is de perfecte omgeving om dat in te doen."

"Het pakket waarover we beschikken is niet slecht als je het vergelijkt met Red Bull Racing. We vechten niet voor het kampioenschap, maar wie weet wat er mogelijk is. Misschien kom ik over een paar jaar in de gelegenheid om de sprong naar een topteam te wagen, maar tot het zover is geniet ik van mijn tijd hier en van strijden om in de top tien te eindigen."

"Het is voor ons knokken om Q3 te halen en dat is voor mij wel fijn. Zeker op mijn leeftijd en gezien mijn geringe ervaring in de opstapklasses is het beter om het op deze manier te doen. Lewis Hamilton heeft aangetoond dat het ook anders kan, hij debuteerde bij een topteam. Ik doe het op mijn manier en blijf graag nog een jaar bij Toro Rosso om te leren."

Zou ook niet goed zijn voor de Formule 1 als hij in een top-auto bij een topteam komt... Wie moet er dan nog zorgen voor de spectaculaire inhaalacties?

prima instelling. Nu maar hopen dat volgend jaar de motor, door het feit dat deze niet doorontwikkelt kan worden, tegen het eind van het jaar geen spelbreker wordt..

  de Renault is dit jaar ook niet doorontwikkeld, dat hield Max niet tegen.
  
  die Ferrari zit tenminste in de basis een stuk dichterbij de top en is nog betrouwbaarder ook.

  blijft echter een feit dat de rest van het veld de motoren door kan ontwikkelen en Torro Rosso dus niet. Afhankelijk van het feit hoe groot de stappen zijn die bijvoorbeeld Ferrari zelf maakt deze winter of Renault met de hulp van Mario Illien en dan hebben we het nog niet over Honda (die qua motorvermogen al erg dicht bij de top zitten en zich derhalve bijna alleen op het electrische deel van de auto en het chassis hoeven te richten), zal moeten blijken hoe goed ze het volgend jaar kunnen doen. Begrijp me niet verkeerd. Ik wil heel graag dat ze het goed gaan doen, niks liever maar als je realistisch gaat kijken zal het er veel van afhangen hoeveel progressie de rest gaat boeken. Ik hoop niet teveel ;-)

  Ach, ik denk dat STR gedurende het seizoen op het aerodynamische vlak nog wel kan door ontwikkelen ten opzichte van de concurentie. Ik denk ook dat STR er zo over denkt. Ook zij weten dat op motorisch vlak niets meer valt door te ontwikkelen, dus zullen zij het op deze manier moeten doen om het gat niet te groot te laten worden met de concurentie.

  @stitch, de doorontwikkeling van de motoren valt wel mee aangezien we nog steeds met het tokensysteem te maken hebben...we mogen hopen dat de klantenmotoren van mercedes behoorlijk afgeknepen worden, dan maakt STR een kans in de top6-8.

Alleen om deze houding ben je een goede rustige kerel. Hard werken en leren.
Ga zo door Max en laat je niet gek maken. Een goede basis is beter dan te snel overgaan naar een topteam en dan mislukken (want die kans is reëel aanwezig als overgang in het verkeerde jaar is). Kijk maar Ferrari 2014.

En toch, moet ik denken aan de transfer van Raikkonen, van Sauber naar McLaren in 2001 / 2002. McLaren was toen niet opgewassen tegen Ferrari maar volgens mij zei toen niemand tegen Kimi van, joh, blijf toch lekker bij Sauber... Waren er tege die tijd eigenlijk F1 forums en was ik toen wel eens op internet actief?

Hij had nog minder race ervaring als Vestappen jr nu? Of schrijf ik nu iets hel raars? Zou niet de eerste en laatste keer zijn zeg ik je....
