Kansen voor Wehrlein bij Manor lijken verkeken

Na de bekendmaking dat Manor volgend jaar met Mercedes-motoren zal rijden circuleerden geruchten dat DTM-kampioen en Mercedes-protege Pascal Wehrlein volgend jaar voor het kleine Britse team zou gaan uitkomen. Manor is de enige renstal met nog twee stoeltjes vrij, maar de renstal lijkt te kiezen voor het geld van andere coureurs. Toto Wolff van Mercedes snapt de keuze van de renstal.

Op sportief vlak zou Wehrlein een goede keuze zijn geweest voor Manor. De 21-jarige Duitser heeft dit jaar al ervaring in de Formule 1 opgedaan bij Mercedes en Force India. Mercedes is bereid om Wehrlein op financieel vlak te ondersteunen, maar niet tegen elke prijs. Eerder dit seizoen gingen verhalen dat Manor minimaal tien miljoen dollar vraagt per stoeltje en dit zou voor Mercedes teveel zijn. Rio Haryanto is met steun van de Indonische regering een grote kanshebber voor een stoeltje, terwijl ook Will Stevens en Alex Rossi kans maken. 

Volgens Toto Wolff maken de grote bedragen die coureurs tegenwoordig moeten betalen voor een stoeltje de Formule 1 kapot. Will Stevens en Alex Rossi beschikken beide over een goed gevuld sponsorportfolio en lieten eerder weten goede hoop te hebben om volgend jaar opnieuw voor Manor uit te uit te komen.

    Ben blij dat manor eigen keuzes kan maken ze hebben daar gewoon heel veel geld nodig ,
    Begrijp ook niet dat ze geen b- team hebben bij merc waar ze talenten ervaring kunnen laten opdoen net als bij torro Rosso .Het lijkt erop dat Ferrari dat nu wel heeft met Haas daar hebben ze hun test rijder gestald . Ben bang voor het grote talent Ocon of hij ooit in de F1 kan rijden. Ze kiezen daar toch voor zeker .

      B-team? Wat is de definitie van een B-Team volgens jou...
      Haas heeft een samenwerkingsverband met Ferrari en is geen B-Team. Weet echt niet waar jij de wijsheid vandaan hebt dat dat wel zo is.
      En voor degene die het niet weten.. Toro Rosso is dus Geen (!!!) ik herhaal Geen (!!) B-Team van Red Bull.. Toro Rosso is een zelfstandig opererende Divisie binnen het Red Bull concern.
      Waarom nemen de mensen altijd te pas en te onpas het woord B-team in de mond. Kan iemand mij uitleggen wat dan een B-team is???

    Waarom niet de motordeal betrekken in een stoeltje voor wehrlein.

      Omdat Mercedes de arrogantie heeft te denken dat ze overal talenten binnen kunnen halen om ze vervolgens helemaal niets te kunnen bieden; of denken ze dat RBR hun satellietteam voor minder als 22 miljoen per jaar kunnen runnen?? Maar wel Ocon ook vastleggen. En Wehrlein. Ben benieuwd waar ze die jongens gaan stallen want ik heb het al eerder aangegeven; Mercedes heeft verder helemaal niets in de hogere single seaters. En een jaar aan de kant staan als reservecoureur die geen meter rijdt is slecht voor je carrière. Rosberg en Hamilton hebben 100% zeker een clausule in hun contract staan waarin staat dat ze beiden ALLE trainingen rijden. Dat zou ik namelijk ook eisen en ik denk dat de onderhandelaars van de heren nog wel wat slimmer, handiger en zeker ervarener zijn als ik.

      Het lijkt inderdaad alsof de focus daar meer ligt op het weghouden van talent bij teams die er wel wat mee willen doen. Of in ieder geval bereid zijn te investeren...

      Nee klopt, die houden het weer op Hamilton - Rosberg. Jammer dat ze niet doorselecteren, want deze combinatie lijkt niet goed te gaan voor 2016.
