Verstappen: "Niets liever dan een of meerdere wereldtitels"

Max Verstappen mag met recht de ster van het afgelopen Formule 1-seizoen worden genoemd. De jonge Nederlander liet zich in positief opzicht zien aan de wereld en sloot het jaar af met een twaalfde plaats in de rangorde en 49 WK-punten. Na het seizoen regende het onderscheidingen en prijzen voor het jonge talent. Verstappen zelf blijft er nuchter onder, hij heeft de ambitie om meerdere kampioenschappen binnen te slepen. Zijn voorbeeld; Sebastian Vettel.

In gesprek met de regionale krant De Limburger laat Verstappen weten de prijzen leuk te vinden, maar geeft hij tegelijkertijd aan veel meer waarde te hechten aan zijn prestaties op de baan. Verstappen: "Het is natuurlijk leuk dat je zo in de belangstelling staat, maar het gaat om de prestaties. Ik zou de prijzen graag willen inleveren voor een wereldtitel. Dat is me veel meer waard, maar er zijn nog 21 anderen volgend jaar die hetzelfde willen. Het liefst wordt ik meer dan een keer wereldkampioen, maar daarvoor heb je veel geluk nodig. Ik ben misschien te ambitieus, maar zonder doelen te stellen kom je nergens."

Verstappen laat verder weten dat Sebastian Vettel een voorbeeld voor hem is. Volgens de Nederlander is Vettel een snelle coureur, maar ook netjes en heeft hij zowel op als naast het circuit de boel goed voor elkaar. Verstappen over Vettel en zijn eigen aanpak: "Sebastian is een goed voorbeeld voor mij. Het is een snelle coureur en hij je hoort geen gekke dingen over hem. Dit geeft hem de rust die hij nodig heeft. Op die manier kan hij op dit niveau presteren, telkens weer. Ik heb als doel vooral met beide benen op de grond te blijven, weten dat je het kent. Dat ik van mijn hobby mijn werk heb kunnen maken is al een zegen. Met de juiste mensen om me heen kan ik ver komen. En voor advies vraag ik natuurlijk mijn vader."

Je moet zoveel geluk hebben om wereldkampioen te worden kijk naar Alonso 5 jaar Ferrari heeft hem niks gebracht de auto was en is gewoon niet goed genoeg ben bang dat we volgend jaar weer naar een optocht van Mercedes kijken . Ik ben toch wel benieuwd wat het in Nederland teweeg zou brengen als Max inderdaad een keer die titel pakt!

  Kijk wat van Barneveld bij het darten teweegbracht, racen is weliswaar een stuk duurder als darten maar wellicht raken veel mensen geïnspireerd door de verrichtingen van Max, en staat het volgende natuurtalent klaar tegen de tijd dat Max weer gaat stoppen.

  Echter verwacht ik geen rondvaart door de grachten van Amsterdam hoor, maar een grote huldiging ergens in Limburg zie ik wel gebeuren.

Je moet op het goede moment in de beste auto zitten en dat is op dit moment de merc .

Heel goed dat Max Vettel als voorbeeld heeft. Dat is inderdaad een keurige coureur. Liever zo iemand kampioen dan nog eens iemand die tatoeage-inkt en waterstofperoxide belangrijkere vloeistoffen lijkt te vinden dan benzine. ;-)
