Kvyat begrijpt Formule 1 veel beter na moeizaam 2015

Daniil Kvyat maakte na een sterk debuutseizoen bij Toro Rosso in 2014 in de winter van 2015 de overstap naar Red Bull Racing. De Rus kende een moeizame seizoensstart, maar wist zich goed te herpakken. Terugkijkend op 2015 beseft Kvyat dat hij de Formule 1 veel beter begrijpt. De Rus wisselde in 2015 goede races af met matige races, maar heeft er vertrouwen in dat 2016 hem meer goeds zal brengen.

Het seizoen 2015 was een seizoen vol uitdagingen voor Kvyat. Naast problemen met zijn eigen consistentie kampte het team van Red Bull met problemen met motorleverancier Renault. De lange onzekerheid omtrent Red Bull in de Formule 1 maakte het er af en niet gemakkelijk op. Kvyat blikt terug op 2015: "Aan het einde van mijn eerste jaar in de Formule 1 maakte ik nauwelijks fouten. In 2015 had ik het moeilijker. Ik maakte wat fouten, maar iedere coureur maakt fouten. Mijn crashes in Japan en Amerika waren incidenten. Je moet verder en er niet teveel meer aan denken nadat het is gebeurt."

Kvyat laat verder weten dat hij volgens eigen zeggen weinig fout heeft in 2015. Kvyat geeft toe dat de mindere vorm van zijn team het af en toe niet eenvoudig maakte: "Los van de twee raceweekenden waarin ik een crash meemaakte heb ik weinig fout gedaan. Het was een wisselvallig seizoen. Als team stonden we niet waar we moesten staan en dat maakt het moeilijk om consistent te zijn. Het was soms moeilijk te accepteren dat we niet mee konden doen voor de overwinningen of het podium."

Volgens Kvyat duurde het even voordat hij zich aan had gepast aan zijn werkomgeving bij Red Bull Racing. Zeker nadat duidelijk werd dat het team in 2015 geen rol van betekenis in het kampioenschap zou betekenen: "Ik moest alle gestelde doelen laten varen, me opmaken voor zware tijd en opnieuw de focus proberen te vinden. Mentale veranderingen zijn altijd lastig. Ik moest we richten op het rijden, uiteindelijk betaalde zich dat uit. Vanaf Monaco ging het steeds beter en kreeg ik een steeds beter gevoel in de auto. Het was nog niet niet perfect, maar ik kan wel zeggen dat ik de vele aspecten van de Formule 1 wel steeds beter ben leren begrijpen."

Ricciardo is in de basis een klapJE sneller zou ik zeggen, maar hij weet het niet helemaal waar te maken. Ik geloof echter niet dat Kvyat hem overvleugelt, hoe beide rijders tov van Verstappen presteren...? Het blijft gissen maar gezien de actie op de RBR mannen dicht ik Verstappen grotere potent... Als hij dit seizoen zijn teamgenoot opnieuw (en overtuigender) weet te verslaan is het exit voor Ricciardo en een plek vrij bij RBR.

  Niet helemaal akkoord. Ricciardo heeft zich in 2014 best wel in de kijker gereden. En ok, Vettel had niet zijn beste jaar, maar die is wel 4x wereldkampioen en zelfs als die niet helemaal top presteert, heb je daar nog een hele kluif aan. Dat Kyvat op hetzelfde niveau als Ricciardo rijdt, wil gewoon zeggen dat ze daar met twee toppers zitten. En als die dan ook nog eens goed samenwerken, weet ik niet op je daar direct happig op bent om dat duo te splitsen.

  Ricciardo heeft natuurlijk wel meer ervaring, maar als Kvyat en Verstappen dat in minder dan de helft van de tijd kunnen... Qua marktwaarde denk ik dat Verstappen het beter doet in de RB dan Ricciardo (maar Ricciardo beter dan Kvyat).

  Je markt waarde hangt helemaal af of je presteert als kvyat dit jaar weer beter is krijgen ze daar toch een probleem bij RB ,mits ze bij TR weer buitengewoon gaan presteren en dat is gewoon afwachten hoe goed de auto is, aan de motor zal het niet liggen.Dan zal er een rijder doorgeschoven worden, voor Saintz is er wel een nadeel dat zijn grote sponsor is weggevallen maar aan de andere kant ben ik ook benieuwd of de verhalen allemaal waar zijn volgens de clan rondom Max dat de sponsoren in de rij staan.

  Op punten heeft Kvyat Ricciardo inderdaad verslagen dit jaar, maar of dat in 2015 nu een goede graadmeter is geweest? Er zijn een aantal races geweest waar Kvyat beter presteerde, maar overall vind ik dat Ricciardo een 'beter' jaar achter de rug heeft. Hij heeft naar mijn idee veel meer pech gehad op cruciale momenten dan Kvyat. Terwijl Kvyat meer persoonlijke fouten heeft gemaakt. Kvyat heeft wel stappen gemaakt, maar ik vind hem wisselvallig.

Ricciardo is in de basis een klap sneller dan Kvyat en hij is na dit seizoen contractvrij. Horner zal hem graag willen houden, de vraag is of Wolff en Arrivabene de kappers op de kust worden. Vettel zal hem niet willen, de vraag is of hij een veto heeft op z'n toekomstige teammate

Of Vettel had er in 2014 hélemaal geen zin meer in en ricciardo is een middelmatige rijder... maakt van kvat ook een middelmatige rijder (wat aannemelijk is) en zal max degene die blijft bij red bull giga om zijn oren rijden...
