Verstappen kijkt erg uit naar het nieuwe seizoen

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen was afgelopen week te gast bij een evenement van zijn sponsor Exact. In het Hilton te Rotterdam sprak de 18-jarige Nederlander voor een volle zaal met 350 medewerkers van het bedrijf met Erik van der Meijden, directeur van de business software leverancier.

Verstappen.nl tekende uit de mond van Max op: "We hebben een andere motor, met meer pk's en daar ben ik erg blij mee. Natuurlijk is het een 2015-specificatie power unit, maar voor ons is het een grote stap vooruit. Onze nieuwe auto zal een grote vooruitgang zijn. Natuurlijk moeten we afwachten wat de andere teams doen, want ook zij maken stappen. Ik kijk erg uit naar het nieuwe seizoen. Afgelopen jaar was al geweldig. Ik heb veel geleerd en ben klaar voor het gevecht van dit jaar."

"Mijn programma omvat momenteel veel fysieke training in de sportschool, of buiten als het weer het toelaat. Dat is wat ik voornamelijk doe in januari en februari. We mogen als coureurs niet te zwaar of een body builder worden, dus we hangen weinig aan de gewichten. Ik doe veel oefeningen met behulp van mijn eigen lichaam."

"De belangrijkste persoon binnen het team is mijn race-engineer. Gedurende de week bellen we veel, vooral nu, om op de hoogte te blijven van de ontwikkelingen aan de auto. Gedurende het seizoen praten we over wat we kunnen verbeteren in onze werkmethodes of afstelling van de auto. Ik denk dat het belangrijk is om in contact te blijven met het team en door je interesse te tonen, motiveer je hen ook. Ik probeer de fabriek in Italië vaak te bezoeken. Het team werkt voor mij en ik denk dat het goed is als ze mijn gezicht in Faenza zien."

Hij is niet de enige die er erg naar uitkijkt, en goed dat hij snapt dat het belangrijk is om zich vaak in Faenza te laten zien.
