Verstappen zit vrijdag in de simulator in de STR11

Max Verstappen heeft een drukke week. De Nederlander is bij zijn team Scuderia Toro Rosso in Italië om zich voor te bereiden op komend seizoen. Vandaag heeft hij een medische keuring en vrijdag maakt hij voor het eerst kennis met de nieuwe STR11, zij het virtueel. Dan kruipt Verstappen namelijk in de simulator van Red Bull voor zijn eerste indrukken met de bolide voor 2016.

Max vertelde aan Verstappen.nl over zijn week: "Maandag had ik samen met Carlos opnames voor het team, voor de filmpjes die voorafgaand aan elke Grand Prix-weekend online komen. Dat was wel lachen! Dinsdag hebben we veel gesproken. Over onze doelstellingen, het concept achter de auto, de geboekte progressie en nieuwe onderdelen op de auto. Het ziet er allemaal spannend uit. Er was veel te vertellen en bespreken."

"We hebben twee stoeltjes gemaakt. Het team heeft dat snel voor elkaar gekregen, het ging allemaal prima. Als het schuim na ongeveer een kwartier hard is geworden, wordt het stoeltje bijgesneden en glad gemaakt om het perfect te krijgen. Dat heeft tijd nodig. Er is ook meteen gekeken naar de pedalen, de stuurhoogte en mijn zithoogte."

"Vrijdag zit ik bij Red Bull in de simulator en rijd ik voor de eerste keer met de nieuwe 2016-configuratie. De simulator benadert de werkelijkheid erg goed, dus ik ben benieuwd. Hoe het daadwerkelijk op het circuit zal gaan, is daarna afwachten. We hebben veel updates en zullen zien hoe ver die ons brengen."

"Het waren een paar intensieve maanden, waarin ik me fysiek heb voorbereid. Ik ben klaar voor het nieuwe seizoen, dat erg interessant wordt. Hopelijk kunnen we veel punten scoren. Ik kijk erg uit naar mijn tweede seizoen in de Formule 1!"

In het artikel staat "morgen heeft hij een medische keuring" .... moet echter zijn "vandaag heeft hij een medische keuring| ;) Tja, azijnzeiker dat ben ik deze ochtend

  We wachten het af. Ik hoop echt dat de nieuwe 2016 configuratie goed uitpakt voor STR.

Ben benieuwd. Ze hebben de simulator aangepast. Eerder kwam er te vaak een errror in beeld en sloeg hij vast. Vrijwel altijd omdat Max dingen deed die niet konden. Na afgelopen seizoen waren de software engineers overtuigd en hebben de sim aangepast. Het systeem denkt niet langer dat dingen niet kunnen en laat het maar begaan.
De "ghost" is ook opnieuw geïnstalleerd en kan nu ook buitenom langskomen. Dit is gedaan voor Carlos zodat hij kan wennen "aan het eggie"

  Hahahaaa!!! Ik zie het al letterlijk voor me, Carlos in de sim bezig met ghost Max die hem buitenom inhaalt, maakt niet uit waar ;-)

Ondanks het strakke schema door de verandering van de motor ( van Renault naar Ferrari) Deze beslissing had eigenlijk eerder moeten vallen. Hebben ze ook nog vele updates, dat is heel positief. Nieuwe versnellingsbak. Nieuwe simulator althans software etc. Ze zijn goed bezig en ben heel benieuwd hoe zich dit vertaald in tijden.
