Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen heeft een productieve ochtend achter de rug. De Nederlander reed 75 ronden, allemaal op de medium compound van Pirelli. Met een 1:25.393 bezet hij voorlopig de derde plaats.

"Het ging goed", vertelde Max Verstappen na afloop van de ochtendsessie aan Verstappen.nl. "We hebben weer veel rondjes gereden, dat is het allerbelangrijkste nu. Veel rijden, de auto beter begrijpen, kijken hoe de auto zich houdt, dat is het belangrijkste. En we hebben pitstops geoefend."

De jonge Nederlander deed ook een paar kortere runs om een gevoel op te doen. "Ja, dat was om te leren hoe de auto voelt als je iets harder pusht", aldus Verstappen. "Vanmiddag gaan we een race-afstand rijden. En dan maken we ook weer twee pitstops."
