Verstappen genomineerd voor Laureus Award

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen heeft een nominatie voor de Laureus Awards in de wacht gesleept. De jonge Nederlander is genomineerd in de categorie 'Doorbraak van het Jaar'. De prijsuitreiking geschiedt op 18 april 2016 in Berlijn.

Verstappen moet het in zijn categorie opnemen tegen de Chileense nationale voetbalploeg, golfer Jason Day, bokser Tyson Fury, golfer Jordan Spieth en zwemmer Adam Peaty. Lewis Hamilton is eveneens genomineerd. De wereldkampioen maakt kans op de prijs van Sportman van het Jaar. Hij krijgt concurrentie van voetballer Lionel Messi, golfer Jordan Spieth, sprinter Usain Bolt, tennisser Novak Djokovic en basketballer Stephen Curry.

Mercedes is een van de genomineerden voor de award voor Team van het Jaar. Basketbalploeg Golden State Warriors, het nationale rugbyteam van Nieuw-Zeeland, voetbalclub FC Barcelona, de Britse Davis Cup-formatie en de Amerikaanse vrouwenvoetbalploeg maken ook kans op deze prijs.

    Zware tegenstanders toch wel, aangezien die ook wat gewonnen hebben. Maar Max met zijn drie prijzen bij de FIA ook uiteraard!

    Fijn, leuk en mooi. zoveelste nietszeggende prijs. Ik vind dat Max ze allemaal verdient, begrijp me niet verkeerd, maar de enige die telt is de WDC Trophy. De rest zal me een zorg zijn. :-)

      dat kun jij wel zeggen, maar Max moet zijn eerste podium nog halen en hij heeft al een blinkende trofeeëncollectie waar Lewis Hamilton strontjaloers op is :-)
      Zonder gekheid, het zegt niet veel maar wel dat hij op de goede weg is, ik hoop dat hij zijn sterke 1e seizoen kan overtreffen dit jaar, veel hangt af van zijn materiaal maar ik hoop ook weer wat weergaloze overtakes te zien, dat is tenslotte waarmee hij de ogen op zich weet te richten en kansen creëren voor 2017 (RB naar ik mag aannemen)
