Red Bull Racing komt nog pure snelheid tekort

Het team van Red Bull Racing heeft over het algemeen een positieve winter achter de rug. De Oostenrijkse renstal heeft meer kunnen rijden dan tijdens de voorbereiding op de voorgaande twee seizoenen. Red Bull Racing heeft echter nog wel wat werk voor de boeg, aangezien het niet opgewassen is tegen grootmachten Mercedes en Ferrari.

Het team heeft daardoor wat geluk nodig om podiumplekken in de wacht te slepen, stelt coureur Daniel Ricciardo. "We hebben ons verbeterd. Er zit meer aan te komen, maar we begeven ons in de juiste richting. Het jaar is voor ons positief begonnen, we bevinden ons in een veel betere uitgangspositie dan de voorbije twee jaar het geval was."

"Als we morgen zouden racen, dan maken we alleen op langzame circuits kans op het podium. Dat is hoe het ervoor staat. Mercedes en Ferrari beschikken over meer pure snelheid. Het is evident, maar het was ook te verwachten. Als we morgen in Monaco zouden rijden, dan zijn we een belangrijke outsider voor een top drie-klassering. Op een circuit als Barcelona zijn we afhankelijk van geluk."

Een realistische visie mijns inziens. En Barcelona is natuurlijk een snel circuit. Dat ligt ook niet alle teams.
