Vlekkeloos weekend doel voor Grosjean in Bahrein

Voormalig Lotus-coureur Romain Grosjean verraste vriend en vijand in Melbourne door het nieuwe Haas F1-team een zesde plaats te bezorgen. Grosjean hoopt in Bahrein een probleemloos weekend te hebben, nadat hij in Melbourne in de trainingen kostbare tijd verloor door het wisselvallige weer en door een aanrijding met Manor-coureur Rio Haryanto in de pitsstraat.

Grosjean bewaart goede herinneringen aan het Bahrain International Circuit, waar komend weekend alweer voor de twaalfde keer de Grand Prix van Bahrein wordt verreden. De Fransman stond er in 2012 en 2013 op het podium met de Lotus. Grosjean over zijn verwachtingen voor komend weekend: "Een weekend zonder problemen zou ons enorm helpen. We moeten kilometers maken om de auto beter te leren kennen. Na Melbourne hebben we een waslijst aan punten die we moeten verbeteren. Het is een uitdaging, maar we hebben voldoende ruimte om de auto te verbeteren. Als we in Bahrein een goed weekend hebben dan zal ik dat merken aan de auto voor de komende races."

Grosjean laat verder weten dat de zesde plaats iedereen binnen Haas F1 een boost heeft gegeven. Grosjean ziet het als een teken dat de samenwerking tussen de mensen binnen het team goed is: "In de winter kwam alles samen. Het voelde direct alsof iedereen goed op elkaar ingespeeld was. Het lukte ons steeds de auto op tijd de baan op te krijgen. Belangrijker is dat er geen fouten werden gemaakt, we hebben een goede groep die elkaar kunnen aanvullen en versterken."
