Max grijpt naast Laureus Award voor doorbraak

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen heeft geen Laureus Award aan zijn prijzenkast toe kunnen voegen. De Nederlander was genomineerd in de categorie 'Doorbraak van het Jaar', maar hij moest zijn meerdere erkennen in golfer Jordan Spieth.

Ook kampioenen Lewis Hamilton en Mercedes vielen niet in de prijzen. Hamilton delfde in de categorie 'Sportman van het Jaar' het onderspit tegen tennisser Novak Djokovic, terwijl Mercedes de prijs voor 'Sportploeg van het Jaar' aan de Nieuw-Zeelandse rugbymannen moest laten.

Kan me wel vinden in Jordan Spieth als winnaar. Als je op 22 jarige leeftijd de nummer 1 van de wereld wordt, 2 van de 4 belangrijkste tournooien wint verdien je wel een prijsje.

      Dat is iets wat je in je vitrine kast kunt zetten zoon, maar als dat gespuis jou die award niet geeft dan ga ik hem zelf wel even halen bij Jordan Spieth, geen zorgen!

      De Laureus awards zijn behoorlijk prestigieuze prijzen, beetje de oscars onder de sport awards. Denk dat Max die graag in z'n kast had gezet.

      Dat is een zeer prestigieuze prijs. Max had die zeker wel willen hebben. Jammer dat hij hem niet gekregen heeft. Maar genomineerd worden is al een eer op zich.

      Ik had het Adam Peaty ook wel gegund, maar Jordan Spieth mag toch wel terecht als doorbraak van het jaar gezien worden. Het is een kwestie van tijd dat Max wel de prijs wint, nog even geduld dus.

      Wel balen voor Max, nadat hij eerder deze week naast Katja Schuurman gegrepen had.

      Als Max er een goed seizoen achteraan plakt dan heeft hij volgend jaar wel een kans. Ik denk dat een sportprijs toegekend door je eigen collega's en de F1 wereldpers je als coureur meer zegt dan deze prijs. Daarmee wil ik deze prijs niet bagatelliseren.

      Het is ook wel een prestigieuze prijs maar wanneer je net 18 bent is dat niet het eerste waar je mee bezig bent. En ik durf te wedden dat hij er voor 2 maanden geleden nog nooit van had gehoord.

      Precies. En het is in de golf niet zo dat je sommige kampioenschappen kunt gooien op superieur materiaal. En Jordan Spieth is gewoon nog een jonge kerel. Hij heeft vorig jaar de masters gewonnen. Een van de dingen die je dan moet doen is het menu samen stellen voor het diner de woensdag voor de Masters het jaar erna. Waar vele golfers dan kiezen voor luxe en gezonde menu's koos hij voor een Texaanse BBQ.

      Onzin. Zo erg misdroeg Max zich niet. Vettel en Romain gedroegen zich zondag veel slechter.
      Bovendien gaat de prijs over vorig jaar/seizoen.
