Verstappen redelijk tevreden over seizoensstart

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen is 'redelijk tevreden' over de eerste drie Grands Prix van 2016. Dat onthulde de Nederlander bij de presentatie van de 'Familie Racedagen, driven by Max Verstappen'. Verstappen scoorde dit seizoen tot nu toe in elke race punten. Vooral in Bahrein en China liet hij zich van zijn beste kant zien.

Aan zijn website verkondigde Verstappen: "Ik ben redelijk tevreden. Van de eerste race heb ik natuurlijk veel geleerd. Ik denk dat we de afgelopen twee wedstrijden het potentieel van de auto er wel uit hebben gehaald qua punten. Zeker de laatste race, in China, was redelijk lastig in het begin, maar we zijn toch weer sterk teruggekomen in de punten. En dat is ook ons doel, zeker in het begin van het seizoen, want daar moeten we gewoon de punten scoren."

Op 4 en 5 juni staat hij in het middelpunt van de belangstelling bij zijn eigen evenement op Circuit Park Zandvoort. "Italia a Zandvoort was vorig jaar enorm leuk om te doen. Dit circuit heeft speciale herinneringen voor mij vanuit de Formule 3, toen ik de Zandvoort Masters won. Om dan terug te komen in een Formule 1-auto, mede mogelijk gemaakt door Jumbo, was natuurlijk enorm mooi. Om ook nog tegelijkertijd met mijn vader in een Formule 1-auto op de baan te kunnen rijden, maakte het voor mij een onvergetelijke dag."

De pas 18-jarige Verstappen is tegenwoordig iemand tegen wie kleine kinderen opkijken. "Ik doe mijn best natuurlijk. Ik geef altijd gas. Het was ook altijd mijn passie om Formule 1-coureur te worden. En als je dan ziet, als je dat eenmaal bereikt hebt, dat kleine kinderen ook allemaal hetzelfde willen bereiken, vind ik dat natuurlijk heel mooi. Met indoor-karten wordt het ook steeds drukker. Zelfs als ik met mijn vrienden wil gaan, kan dat soms gewoon niet, omdat het te druk is, dus dan kan ik me weer omdraaien. Ik vind het gewoon heel mooi om te zien."

1e race liep inderdaad niet lekker door allerlei omstandigheden, als je het gewoon positief bekijkt kun je zeggen in 2016 alle 3 race's in de punten, verder basta. Het zg verwachte verval cq moeilijke 2e jaar, tot nu toe valt het reuze mee.

Lijkt me van zichzelf toch een sympathieke, makkelijk benaderbare jongen. Mooi om een voorbeeld voor de jonge fans te zijn.

Als hij in dit tempo doorgaat, met gemiddeld 3 punten per race dan staat hij op 63 punten aan het eind van het seizoen. Dat zou een mooie verbetering zijn ten opzichte van afgelopen jaar en met een paar uitschieters kan daar nog wel wat bij komen.

  Ik was uitgegaan van 9 punten... domweg even de 4 van China vergeten. Slordig!
  
  Inderdaad, 91 punten dus. Da's niet ver af van zijn ambitieuze doel van 100 punten.
