Halo lijkt voorkeur te krijgen boven aeroscreen

De halo, een concept om het hoofd van de coureurs in geval van een crash beter te beschermen, zal naar alle waarschijnlijkheid in 2017 verplicht worden voor alle coureurs. Ferrari testte de halo in februari al in Barcelona. Coureur Kimi Raikkonen was er destijds niet over te spreken. Het aeroscreen waar Daniel Ricciardo in de eerste vrije training in Rusland mee testte lijkt af te vallen.

Officieel is het nog niet, maar vanuit de Britse media komen verhalen dat de teams liever de halo gebruiken dan het aeroscreen. Na de test van de halo in februari is er hard aan gewerkt om het concept verder te ontwikkelen. Het nieuwe ontwerp zal minder groot zijn en er wat verfijnder uitzien.

Het aeroscreen lijkt echter nog niet helemaal van de baan. Een aantal teams ziet ook dat concept wel zitten, maar een introductie van een aeroscreen in 2017 lijkt te vroeg te zijn.
