Max: "Red Bull Ring niet het meest ideale circuit"

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen heeft alvast vooruit gekeken naar de Grands Prix van Oostenrijk en Groot-Brittannië. De Formule 1 is toe aan de volgende back-to-back races en dat op twee circuits waar de gemiddelde snelheid vrij hoog zal liggen. De Red Bull Ring bestaat vooral uit lange rechte stukken en scherpe bochten, terwijl Silverstone meer een vloeiende lay-out kent.

Verstappen: "In Oostenrijk heb je niet zoveel bochten, maar het speciale zit hem in de hoogteverschillen. En nu ik voor Red Bull Racing race voelt het meer als een thuisrace, de fans zullen me vast nog hartelijker welkom heten. Ik denk ook dat meer Nederlandse supporters dit jaar de reis naar Spielberg zullen maken, dus ik kijk er wel naar uit."

"De Red Bull Ring is misschien niet het meest ideale circuit voor onze auto qua performance, maar het is toch een leuke baan. Vorig jaar verging het me vrij goed in Oostenrijk. Ik kwalificeerde me als zevende en finishte als achtste, dat was niet verkeerd."

"Silverstone heeft meer wat weg van Spa-Francorchamps. Het is een ouderwets circuit, maar wel met nieuwe faciliteiten en moderne uitloopstroken. Een goede, zuivere ronde op deze baan voelt wel speciaal, helemaal in de snelle gedeeltes. Het is echt een circuit voor coureurs. Je komt met hoge snelheid aan bij de bochten, je moet de goede lijn vinden en je bent continu bezig om je aan de omstandigheden aan te passen. Het is uitdagend."

Oostenrijk gaat vooral erom dat ze niet dezelfde problemen tegenkomen als afgelopen 2 races, dan kunnen ze in ieder geval nog wat eruit halen. Silverstone heb ik wel goede hoop, mede omdat ze er met hardere banden rijden, wat niet alleen voor RBR gunstig is, maar volgens mij ook voor Max

  Het zou zomaar weer kunnen, start-stop baan, weinig downforce. Heeft alle ingredienten om weer tegen dat probleem aan te lopen. Mooie test om te zien of ze dat nu hebben kunnen oplossen.

Ik weet wel zeker dat ze bij RB goed huiswerk hebben gedaan en precies weten welke bandenstrategie ze gaan volgen op deze baan. Dit wordt gewoon een top 5 voor beide RB's.

Slverstone verwacht ik Max zelfs op podium.

Ha ha , de ultra-soft is dit jaar voor elk circuit ( waar hij gebruikt wordt) en elk team de grote onbekende ... Zal in Oostenrijk niet anders zijn... Zoals het er nu uitziet gaat de bandenkeuze bij diverse teams de race weer sterk beïnvloeden , en zal vermoedelijk wel blijven de rest van het seizoen... Goed gedaan Pirelli ....

  Wordt daar ook niet goed van. Nog nooit zo veel verschillende banden gehad maar zijn die waar je behoefte aan hebt niet beschikbaar.. Vreemde gang van zaken.
  Gewoon alle banden beschikbaar stellen.
