Verstappen hoopt op regen en storm in Oostenrijk

Het zou voor Red Bull Racing gunstig zijn als de voorspelde regen- en onweersbuien dit weekend ook daadwerkelijk over de Red Bull Ring trekken. Anders wordt een mooi resultaat op de Red Bull Ring een moeilijk verhaal, denkt Max Verstappen. Het circuit is niet echt geschikt voor de RB12.

Een natte baan zou de kansen op een topklassering voor Red Bull Racing aanzienlijk vergroten. Verstappen vertelde aan De Telegraaf: "Het zal vermoedelijk niet ons beste raceweekend worden vanwege de lange rechte stukken. Maar we proberen er het beste van te maken. Ik hoop op regen en storm."

Er is wel een speciale Verstappen-tribune, met duizend in het oranje uitgedoste fans. "Ik ga voor de race sowieso even een kijkje nemen bij die tribune. Ik vind het eervol dat er zo'n tribune is. En vooral dat die vol zit. De impact van mijn prestaties is inderdaad groot. Dat is positief. Dan doe je toch iets goed", aldus de Red Bull Racing-coureur.

    Hopen op regen, inderdaad!
    Toch, denk ik, met droog weer moeten ze ook in staat zijn om op p5/6 te eindigen.

    De voorspelling is er, is het beste voor de RB12 nu het nog even wachten is op de update van Renault.

      Voor Williams zou een droge race de beste kansen geven.
      We hebben dit jaar echter al genoeg saaie races gezien. Laat het dus maar lekker plenzen en laat die epische regen battles maar komen.

    En dan graag gewoon MotoGP-style. Gewoon een staande start op een natte baan, laten racen in de regen, en niet zo'n achterlijke safetycar totdat de baan droog is.

      Dat is toch totaal onverantwoord Kevin, is echt niet meer van deze tijd:) We moeten gewoon doorgaan en alles naar de klote helpen, gewoon achter de safetycar starten dus!

      @John De vrije trainingen zijn er om de grenzen te leren kennen, dus fouten maken mag. Alleen het ziet er af en toe wat lomp/te agressief uit...

    Ik denk dat max op t moment vooral hoopt dat de gele stenen verwijderd worden... Met regen erbij wordt het nog gevaarlijker om een foutje te maken.

      @john6 helemaal mee eens, voornamelijk zijn eigen fout wel heel hard afgestraft.
      Maar max gaat bijna altijd tot de max. ik ben er niet zeker van dat regen in dit geval met de gele blokken erbij de meest optimale combi is...

    Daar hoopte Max ook op in Monaco. En daar werd de regen zijn ondergang.
    En nu weer hopen op regen en storm...prima, maar als je dan weer a.s. zondag naast de baan komt dan ben je dus kennelijk geen goede regenrijder.

      Ik hoop voor Max dat het bij regen dan weer niet zo'n Monaco-weekend gaat worden...laat het maar lekker droog blijven en dan gewoon p5 pakken , dan heeft hij toch ook indruk kunnen maken.
