McLaren probeert een radicale achtervleugel uit

Het team van McLaren heeft in de eerste vrije training voor de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk een radicale nieuwe achtervleugel op de auto van Fernando Alonso gemonteerd. De achtervleugel bevatte veel grote verticale sleuven in de wing-end plate. Teamgenoot Jenson Button reed in de eerste sessie met een meer conventionele achtervleugel. Het is nog niet duidelijk of McLaren Alonso de rest van dit weekend met de nieuwe achtervleugel laat rijden.

    Radicaal, radicaal? Ik vind dat tamelijk conventioneel hoor. De laatste echt radicale achtervleugel was de delta-vleugel bij Tyrell. Toevallig probeerden ze die ook in Oostenrijk uit.

    Het is maar goed dat ze volgend jaar weer vanaf de basis gaan beginnen, want dit chassis is niet geweldig. Ook niet slecht, maar als het echt goed zou zijn hadden ze in Monaco bijvoorbeeld wel verder vooraan gereden.

    Op deze foto komt het nog niet helemaal lekker uit, maar ik zag een andere foto schuin van achteren en de vleugel is echt een gigantische tunnel. Vraag me af of dat nou echt gaat werken.

    Ben absoluut geen McL liefhebber maar dit is toch in en intriest. Wat een niveau wordt er door Scuderia Woking tentoongestelt. Je zou maar fan zijn van dit zootje, dan zijn dit zware jaren.
