Max: "Silverstone behoort tot beste circuits ter wereld"

Max Verstappen en Red Bull Racing bereiden zich voor op de Britse Grand Prix van komend weekend. Die vindt plaats op het circuit van Silverstone, een baan van 5.891 meter lang met achttien bochten. Red Bull Racing kan in theorie beter uit de voeten op dit circuit dan op bijvoorbeeld de Red Bull Ring. Het is hoe dan ook een baan die speciale gevoelens oproept.

Verstappen zegt op zijn site: "De Britse Grand Prix is erg bijzonder. Er zijn altijd veel fans en het weer is altijd een verrassing. Het kan er winderig en regenachtig zijn, maar ook weer snel opdrogen en dat kan voor spannende races zorgen. Een van de beste herinneringen die ik er heb, stamt uit mijn Formule 3-tijd toen ik er mijn eerste podium scoorde."

"Silverstone is een beetje zoals Spa. Het is ook een ouderwets circuit, maar met nieuwe faciliteiten en moderne uitloopstroken. Door de snelle stukken voelt het heel speciaal om een goed, vlekkeloos rondje te rijden. Het is een echt rijderscircuit. Je hebt het juiste gevoel nodig. Je nadert de bochten op hoge snelheid en het is niet eenvoudig om de ideale lijn te vinden. Je moet je bovendien constant aanpassen aan de veranderende omstandigheden, dus dat maakt het erg uitdagend."

"Het circuit is erg speciaal en ik kijk er naar uit om er weer te rijden, want uit het oogpunt van coureur gezien, vind ik Silverstone een van de beste circuits ter wereld."

Afgezien van het nieuwe gedeelte (2010 ->) is het circuit inderdaad nog steeds een aanwinst voor de F1.

  Zoals gewoonlijk bewonder ik jullie weer in het uitblinken van vertrouwen richting Max. Verleden jaar is hij eraf geschoten in de race. 1 van de weinige zeldzame foutjes waar je Max op kon betrappen. Nu zijn we een jaar verder en denken sommigen hier dat Max nog steeds dat onervaren knulletje van verleden jaar is. Het is eigenlijk te triest voor woorden.

Mooi circuit. Hopelijk trekt Max zijn goede lijn door. Max en Ricciardo allebei in de top 5 dan doen ze goede zaken in het constructeurskampioenschap.
