Vooruitgang Max Verstappen blijft paddock verbazen

Max Verstappen blijft het Formule 1-paddock verbazen met zijn snelle opmars naar een sterrenstatus in de Formule 1. Vijf race na zijn zege in Spanje was de 18-jarige Nederlander eindelijk eens sneller dan Daniel Ricciardo in de kwalificatie.

Ricciardo vond na de kwalificatie in Silverstone dat het 'zuigt' om langzamer te zijn dan Verstappen. "Het is nooit leuk om langzamer te zijn dan je teamgenoot", gaf de Australiër toe. De verklaring dat Verstappen eindelijk Ricciardo aftroefde, lag volgens vader Jos in ervaring. "Ik denk dat Max nu de auto beter begint de begrijpen dan eerder." Paul Monaghan, hoofd-engineer van Red Bull, is het daarmee eens. "Max werkt nu beter met de engineers." Teambaas Christian Horner voegt daaraan toe: "We zien nu dat Max meer zelfvertrouwen krijgt in een vliegend rondje en dat hij beter samenwerkt met de engineers, zodat hij het beste uit de auto kan persen."

Ook legendes uit de historie van de Formule 1 merken het talent van Verstappen op. Voorafgaand aan de Grand Prix van Engeland verklaarde Jackie Stewart dat Verstappen 'de beste rijder is die de afgelopen jaren in de Formule 1 is gekomen', terwijl Damon Hill zich verbaast over de jonge Nederlander. "Wat mij het meeste verbaast is het vertrouwen dat hij heeft, ondanks zijn jonge leeftijd en met zijn krappe ervaring. We zullen hem vele jaren aan de top van de Formule 1 zien."

Het verbaasd mij dat het de echte kenners verbaasd... Zit me nu al sinds de GP2 2014 me nergens meer over te verbazen.. Lijkt regelrecht naar allerhoogste in F1 af te gaan WK 2017 of 18 ... Maar zal mij niet verbazen als het al in 2017 gebeurd... #No Mercy

  Stiekem hoop ik erop dat Max dit jaar al WK wordt. Dat zal helemaal weergaloos en ongekend zijn. Moeten Lewis en Nico wel elkaar van de baan af blijven rijden en Max moet podia's blijven scoren. Keep on dreaming!

P3 is een record. Is het ook een record dat max met ongeveer 2,5 jaar na het karten een F1 overwinning behaalt? Ik denk niet dat er iemand met in een kortere tijd na het karten een F1 overwinning behaalt heeft. Wiet iemand dit?

Niet de minsten zijn lovend over Max en zijn max is nog niet in zicht.

Mensen laten we genieten van dit heugelijk feit voor zolang dat kan, want hebben een potentieel WK in huis.
Wat een vooruitzichten man, zie het al voor me, max vecht om het wk in 2017 in een rbr car.
