Felipe Nasr wil blijven als Sauber zich bewijst

Felipe Nasr wil graag signalen opvangen dat Sauber hem volgend jaar een goed platform geeft waarop hij kan presteren. Doet Sauber dat niet, dan kan Nasr maar zo eens vertrekken uit Hinwil.

Sinds 2015 rijdt de Braziliaan in Zwitserse dienst en hij maakte bij zijn debuut indruk met een vijfde plaats. Een paar races later werd hij achtste in China en ook in Rusland scoorde Nasr goed met een zesde plaats. In 2016 loopt het echter een stuk stroever. Sauber heeft nog niet gescoord en kampte bovendien met financiële problemen.

De geldproblemen lijken echter binnen afzienbare tijd opgelost te zijn, waardoor Nasr graag van het team wil zien dat er een goede toekomst aan zit te komen, zodat hij dat mee kan nemen in zijn overwegingen voor 2017. "Ik wil eerst zien wat ik wil, voordat ik een besluit neem. Ik wil graag blijven, maar dan moet ik wel kunnen zien dat het team iets heeft om in te geloven."

Nasr vervolgt tegenover F1i: "Ik geloof in het team, ook doordat het vorig jaar beter ging. Ik had een goede start van het seizoen, maar daarna werd het moeilijk, iets wat toe te schrijven is aan de financiële situatie van het team. We hadden het lastig maar ik geloof er nog in. Zolang er maar meer puzzelstukjes op de goede plaats gaan vallen, zodat ik hier ook kan presteren."

Zelf vindt Nasr dat hij al bewezen heeft een plekje bij Sauber te verdienen. "In de kleine dingen heb ik laten zien wat ik kan, zoals een snelste ronde neerzetten in Engeland, maar ook gevechten met McLaren in Bakoe en tijdens de race in de punten rijden in Oostenrijk. Als rijder heb ik me dus wel bewezen aan het team."

Hij heeft het feitelijk nog beter gedaan dan Sainz in twee seizoenen STR. Als Max de nieuwe Senna is en Carlos verslaat hem maar Nasr verslaat Carlos weer wat is Nasr dan wel niet?!

In de kleine dingen ook heel vaak laten zien wat hij niet kan. Zoals de auto uit de muur houden op een recht stuk in de vrije training (Canada 2015). Het tempo van een Marussia volgen op een natte baan (Austin 2015). Luisteren naar het team als hij voor de zoveelste keer veel te langzaam rijdt en in de weg zit van zijn teamgenoot (Monaco 2016).

Gelukkig hoeft hij om zich te bewijzen bij Sauber alleen maar een zak geld mee te nemen.

Maar waar zou Nasr dan willen rijden.
Ik zie geen opties binnen de F1 op Manor na met een hele grote zak geld.
Want bij Manor verdien je geen stoeltje, maar koop je er 1.
Net zoals bij Sauber.

Ik zou het wel weten. Laat gaan, laat gaan die blaaskaak. Er zijn genoeg anderen die geld meebrengem en meer doen voor de show (Maldonado?? ;-) ).

Hij is wel overtuigd van zichzelf, ik vind het niet meer dan een middelmatige coureur.

Overigens zou Nasr stom zijn als hij wél bij Sauber bleef wanneer er ook nog een andere optie is. Dat ze bij Sauber wellicht (ik heb nog altijd niets concreets gehoord) een oplossing hebben voor de financiële problemen wil nog niet zeggen dat die auto ineens een stuk beter is.
De ontwikkeling staat al even stil en ook voor 2017 zie ik dat niet zo snel veranderen.

Overigens denk ik dat Nasr best wel eens naar Renault ofzo zou kunnen gaan met zijn goedgevulde bak met geld.

Tja, dit jaar moet je je toch afvragen hoe je de resultaten van Nasr vs Ericsson moet vergelijken. Sauber lijkt mij dit jaar niet in staat 2 gelijkwaardige wagens aan de start te brengen. Ik denk niet dat Nasr s'werelds beste coureur is, maar ik schat hem toch een stuk hoger in dan Ericsson. Die laatste lijkt dit jaar voor als 'dibs' te hebben op het nieuwste materiaal, omdat zijn sponsor extra bij schiet.

Ik ben wel benieuwd wat Nasr bij een team als Force India, Williams of Renault kan.
