Hongarije een goede test voor P4-ambities Force India

Slechts negentien punten scheiden Williams en Force India in het constructeurskampioenschap. De komende race in Hongarije moet uitwijzen of Force India daadwerkelijk de strijd aan kan gaan voor de vierde plaats.

Na een matige start van het seizoen introduceerde het Indiase team in Barcelona een goed werkende update. Sindsdien pakte Sergio Perez twee podia en werd er, op Oostenrijk na, constant punten gescoord. Het gat met Williams is verkleind naar negentien punten, en teambaas Vijay Mallya denkt dat de afwijkende karakteristieken van de Hungaroring gaan laten zien hoe sterk Force India de rest van het seizoen gaat zijn.

"Vorig jaar was Boedapest een uitdagend weekend voor ons en we willen de race liever vergeten. Het kan dit jaar alleen maar beter gaan. De Hungaroring is compleet het tegenovergestelde van Silverstone, dus het wordt interessant om te zien hoe ver we kunnen komen. We hebben hard gewerkt aan de snelheid in langzame en medium-snelheid bochten, dus we zouden in goede vorm moeten steken voor dit weekend."

Mallya gelooft dat constant punten scoren belangrijk gaat zijn in de strijd om de vierde plaats bij de constructeurs. "Met veertien punten hadden we onze beste Britse Grand Prix ooit en we komen daarmee dichter bij de vierde plaats. Onze snelheid was bemoedigend en met nog een half seizoen te gaan, zie ik geen reden dat we niet elke race zulke punten kunnen scoren. Dat moeten we namelijk doen om te kunnen vechten voor de vierde plek."
