Alonso: "Bochten aanvallen speelt sleutelrol op Hungaroring"

Op Silverstone kreeg Fernando Alonso het niet voor elkaar om punten te scoren. Desondanks gaat de Spanjaard met een lekker gevoel naar de Grand Prix van Hongarije van komend weekend.

Het weekend in Groot-Brittannië was volgens Alonso een uitdaging en hij ziet dat McLaren zich verbetert, met name op het gebied van betrouwbaarheid. Die positieve punten neemt hij mee naar de Hungaroring. "Perfect bestaat niet in deze sport, maar het is belangrijk om een probleemloos weekend neer te zetten. Als we elke sessie het beste eruit persen en geen drama hebben tijdens het weekend, dan kunnen we goede snelheid vinden en het gehele potentieel van de auto benutten, met hopelijk goede punten als resultaat."

Het korte baantje bij Boedapest bevalt Alonso wel en 'het geweldige kleine baantje' heeft hem in de loop der jaren flink wat succes opgeleverd. In 2003 wist hij er zijn eerste Formule 1-race te winnen, vorig jaar behaalde hij het beste resultaat van McLaren-Honda in Hongarije: een vijfde plaats. De sleutel tot een goed rondje op het krappe circuit zit volgens Alonso in het aanvallen van de bochten.

"Je hebt goede balans en veel downforce nodig. Daarom is het aanvallen van de bochten, net zoals in het karten, belangrijk in het zetten van een goede rondetijd. Dat maakt het leuk om hier te rijden. Het voelt niet aan als een langzaam circuit, ondanks dat de topsnelheid laag ligt. Ik hoop dat we vroeg in het weekend een goede setup kunnen vinden, zodat we het meeste uit de auto kunnen halen en plezier kunnen hebben."

Gaat helemaal goedkomen, ze hebben het ''op 1 na beste chassis''. Ik verwacht minimaal een podiumplek dus voor Alonso.

  Waarom zet je 'op 1 na beste chassis' tussen aanhalingstekens? Je zit ze toch niet de gek aan te steken van McLaren, of wel? Maar even serieus. Alonso kan zeker makkelijk een top 10 halen als alles heel blijft. Dit is een echt circuit voor vechtersbaasjes met techniek

  Oh ja ik gun het ze zeker hoor. Hopelijk komt McLaren trouwens voor 2017 met een spannende livery want de huidige kleurstelling is niet heel geslaagd imo.
