Sauber zet ontwikkeling nieuwe achtervleugel voort

Sauber miste de tweede in-season test van het seizoen op Silverstone door de lastige financiële situatie. Daardoor is het team gedwongen om tijdens de vrije trainingen in Hongarije de verloren testtijd in te halen.

Zowel Felipe Nasr als Marcus Ericsson zullen deelnemen aan de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe onderdelen die Sauber wil introduceren. De rijders zullen allebei rijden met een nieuwe achtervleugel, die Ericsson in Engeland al kort uitprobeerde. Het doel is om zoveel mogelijk data te verzamelen over de updates.

Veel teams verschuiven hun aandacht langzaam maar zeker naar 2017, maar Nasr en Ericsson zijn vastberaden om het meeste uit het 2016-pakket te halen, zeker nu Sauber elfde staat in het kampioenschap. "Ik kijk ernaar uit om voor het eerst de Sauber met nieuwe achtervleugel uit te proberen. Ook bij de Duitse Grand Prix zullen we het ontwikkelingswerk voortzetten, zodat we een solide tweede seizoenshelft kunnen draaien", verklaarde Nasr aan Crash.net.

Ericsson drukt zich in soortgelijke bewoordingen uit bij het medium. "Het is goed dat we de tests met de achtervleugel voortzetten om zo ons aero-pakket te evalueren. Het is belangrijk om de data uit Silverstone met die uit Boedapest te vergelijken. Daarna gaan we door naar Duitsland, waar we doorgaan met het ontwikkelingswerk." Vorig jaar behaalde Ericsson een puntje in Hongarije, Nasr werd toen elfde.

Ze zijn naar de Lidl geweest om een paar bananendozen te halen en daar achtervleugels van te knippen. Felipe en Marcus mochten meehelpen want er was geen engineer te bekennen die hieraan mee wilde werken..;-)
