Toro Rosso-coureurs nog niet helemaal tevreden

Voor het eerst in lange tijd eindigde er geen enkele Toro Rosso in de top tien van de eerste twee vrije trainingen. Carlos Sainz Jr. en Daniil Kvyat kenden beide hun momentjes en eindigden als dertiende en zestiende. Carlos Sainz Jr. moest de tweede vrije training halverwege staken na een probleem aan zijn STR11.

Carlos Sainz Jr. is dan ook niet tevreden met zijn dag en hoopt de rest van het weekend sterker te zijn: "Jammer genoeg was het geen goede eerste dag. Best wel lastig eigenlijk. We kregen de balans in de eerste training niet op orde. In de tweede training werd dat beter, maar ik ben er nog niet helemaal blij mee. Hopelijk krijgen we de auto goed genoeg voor de kwalificatie, het middenveld zit hier namelijk erg dicht bij elkaar."

In de andere Toro Rosso kwam Daniil Kvyat tot een zestiende tijd. De Rus spreekt van een dag met 'ups en downs': "Het goede nieuws is dat we genoeg data hebben om mee aan de slag te gaan. We weten waar we moeten verbeteren en hopelijk lukt dat. De nieuwe asfaltlaag heeft wel degelijk wat zaken verandert in vergelijking met vorig jaar. We moeten het circuit nog beter leren begrijpen."

Hoewel de STR hier best goed uit de voeten zou moeten kunnen, beginnen zich toch de eerste tekenen van de 2015-motor die niet meer doorontwikkeld wordt, te vertonen. (sorry voor deze enigszins kromme zin...)

Hoewel de STR hier best goed uit de voeten zou moeten kunnen, beginnen zich toch de eerste tekenen van de 2015-motor die niet meer doorontwikkeld wordt, te vertonen. (sorry voor deze enigszins kromme zin...)

Verschil met P10 is 0,036 seconden. Middenveld zit echt dicht bij elkaar. Nog van alles mogelijk.

En toch is dit een vreemde situatie dat TR steeds verder achterop raakt, daar Renault, Ferrari en Mercedes de ontwikkeling van hun motoren grotendeels stop heeft gezet en zich al aan het concentreren zijn op het volgend seizoen, daardoor zou TR niet verder achterop mogen raken.

  wie heeft jou die onzin ingefluisterd? Alle drie genoemde teams halen alles uit de kast om maar verbeteringen aan te kunnen brengen, en hebben dit jaar al diverse updates aangebracht. De Ferrari 2015 heeft helemaal niks gekregen.

  Alleen de drie grote teams hebben geld om de auto door te ontwikkelen en Toro Rosso niet, daar zit ook een hoop verschil in!

  @RIDERTJ: STR maakt ook onderdeel uit van RBR en heeft heus wel geld om te ontwikkelen. Maar de motor is van Ferrari en daar KUNNEN ze helemaal niks aan ontwikkelen. De auto zelf wel, uiteraard.
  Aangezien ze volgend jaar dezelfde motor zullen hebben als RBR zal dat probleem daarmee opgelost zijn.
