Ericsson en Nasr kennen wisselende openingsdag op Hungaroring

Het beste nieuws voor Sauber kwam deze week niet van het circuit, maar vanuit Zwitserland zelf. Het Zwitserse Longbow Finance neemt de aandelen van eigenaar Peter Sauber en teambazin Monisha Kaltenborn over en wordt 100% eigenaar van de renstal. Door de overname kan Sauber eindelijk aan de slag met de ontwikkeling van de C35. Op de eerste dag eindigden coureurs Marcus Ericsson en Felipe Nasr op hun gebruikelijke posities.

Sauber gebruikte de beide trainingen met het verder testen van de nieuwe achtervleugel, die in Silverstone in de trainingen al werd geprobeert. Marcus Ericsson was de snelste coureur van het team en spreekt van een behoorlijk goede dag: "Het ging best goed. Uiteraard is onze snelheid nog niet wat het moet zijn, maar we konden het volledige programma afwerken. Ik heb op beide bandencompounds veel ronden kunnen rijden. We moeten ons nu gaan richten op het verbeteren van onze prestaties."

In de andere Sauber spreekt Felipe Nasr van een minder goede dag. De Braziliaan eindigde in beide sessies achter zijn teamgenoot en viel in de tweede sessie stil met een hydraulisch probleem: "Het was geen ideaal begin van het weekend. In de eerste training richtten we ons op de nieuwe achtervleugel. In de tweede training reden we vooral lange runs. Dat ging best goed, totdat de auto er ineens mee stopte. Hopelijk gaat het de rest van het weekend beter voor ons."
