Pertamina beëindigt samenwerking met Manor

Pertamina heeft de sponsoring van Manor Racing stopgezet. De Indonesische oliemaatschappij was verbonden aan Rio Haryanto, maar de Indonesiër raakte vorige week zijn racestoeltje kwijt aan Esteban Ocon.

Haryanto blijft wel als reserve bij Manor, maar Pertamina heeft de samenwerking met het team beëindigd. "Manor Racing heeft ons nog aangeboden om door te gaan met de reclame voor Pertamina op de auto's, maar wij hebben besloten om de banden te verbreken", aldus een woordvoerster van het bedrijf in de Jakarta Post.

Mede dankzij het geld van Pertamina dwong Haryanto een kans in de Formule 1 af bij Manor. Hij kon echter niet het volledige afgesproken bedrag van 15 miljoen euro inzamelen. Eind vorige week onthulde Haryanto dat hij 7 miljoen euro tekort kwam.

Pertamina had dan zeker nog een beetje geld moeten betalen om op de auto te blijven staan en daar zouden ze wel geen trek in hebben gehad.
