Hülkenberg wil Perez ook in 2017 als stalgenoot

Nico Hülkenberg hoopt dat Sergio Perez ervoor kiest om ook na dit seizoen bij Force India te blijven. De Mexicaan staat in de belangstelling van Renault en Williams. Hij weegt alle voors en tegens tegen elkaar af en ook zijn sponsors hebben een flinke stem in de uiteindelijke beslissing. Als het aan Hülkenberg ligt, heeft hij ook in 2017 Perez als teamgenoot.

"Ik heb geen idee wat Sergio gaat doen", begint de Duitser tegenover Autosport. "Als duo werken we goed samen en pushen we het team vooruit. Het is een goede, competitieve en zware omgeving, maar op een positieve manier. Ik hoop dus dat Sergio bij Force India blijft."

Hülkenberg heeft de hoop op een toekomstige transfer naar een topteam nog niet opgegeven. "Absoluut niet, maar de timing moet juist zijn. Je moet op het juiste moment op de juiste plek zijn en dat is nog niet het geval geweest. Anderen hebben ook lang moeten wachten op hun kans, dus het heeft geen zin om de handdoek in de ring te gooien."

"Ik heb door de jaren heen in de Formule 1 wel geleerd dat je afhankelijk bent van veel mensen die beslissingen nemen die in je voordeel of in je nadeel uit kunnen pakken. Ik laat mijn hoofd niet meer op hol brengen. Het belangrijkste is dat ik geniet van wat ik doe en plezier heb, en dat is zo. Wat dat betreft steek ik goed in mijn vel. Ik ben een blij man."

Elk jaar dat Perez langer blijft bij FI is weggegooid...hij moet nu echt doorbreken bij een beter team.

  Begrijp wat je bedoelt. Renault zou een interessante stap voor Perez zijn.

  Waarom zou een jaar bij Force India nu weg gegooid zijn ?
  Dit is toch een zeer goed middenklas team. Mag je toch content zijn daar bij te rijden.
  Niet iedereen kan bij Mercedes of Ferrari ondergebracht worden.

Je weet nooit wat de toekomst brengt. Ik heb jaren gedacht dat Button's kansen verkeken waren en z'n carrière zou eindigen met Honda. Toen stapten ze uit de sport en was het over en uit voor Button. In Februari kocht Brawn het team en sindsdien is Button racewinnaar, wereldkampioen en F1 topper.

Het zou zo Hulkenberg maar kunnen overkomen.

  Ik denk niet dat Brawn aan zo iets nog gaat beginnen, misschien soort van functie zoals Jean Todt doet las ik eens ergens.
