Perez houdt vertrek bij Force India voor mogelijk

Sergio Perez acht het niet ondenkbaar dat hij na dit seizoen Force India verlaat. De Mexicaan staat bij Renault en Williams op de shortlist, al kan hij ook een nieuw contract bij zijn huidige werkgever tekenen. De 26-jarige coureur is er nog niet uit.

Gevraagd of het mogelijk is dat hij vertrekt bij Force India, antwoordde Perez: "Ja. Dat bepaal ik samen met mijn sponsors. Voor een transfer heb ik ook de zegen van mijn geldschieters nodig en die beslissing is nog niet genomen. Contractueel is het met mij nooit zo simpel omdat ik zoveel sponsors heb die ook een contract af moeten sluiten, dus duurt het altijd langer."

Perez is bezig aan zijn zesde seizoen in de Formule 1. De Mexicaan debuteerde in 2011 bij Sauber en hij kwam ook nog een jaartje voor McLaren uit. De teller staat halverwege dit seizoen op 105 Grand Prix-starts, waarin hij zeven keer het podium bereikte.
