Hamilton start 'gewoon' vanaf de grid

Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton start de race vanmiddag vanaf de grid. De Brit start als 21e, Alonso start als laatste vanwege een hogere gridstraf (60 om 55 voor Hamilton). Vaak kiezen coureurs voor een start vanuit de pits, maar volgens de Brit wil hij niet meteen al achter de feiten aanlopen vanaf de start.

"Ik houd er niet van om vanuit de pits te starten. Je moet wachten tot de laatste auto voorbij is en het kost je teveel tijd. Door vanaf de grid te starten kan ik in de chaos terecht komen in de eerste bocht, maar het kan natuurlijk ook gewoon goed gaan. Het wordt een zware race vanmiddag, een plek in de top tien kan al wel eens lastig worden. Ik acht het podium niet mogelijk vandaag.", aldus Hamilton.
