Rosberg noemt pole-ronde Singapore 'een van drie beste ronden ooit'

In Singapore trainde Nico Rosberg zich voor de 29ste keer in zijn carrière naar de pole position. Dat deed de Duitser op zeer overtuigende wijze, want hij bleef naaste achtervolger Daniel Ricciardo ruim een halve tel voor. 

Met de pole verschafte Rosberg zichzelf de best mogelijke uitgangspositie voor zijn tweehonderdste Formule 1-race en na afloop van de kwalificatie liet de Mercedes-coureur blijken erg tevreden te zijn. "Ik ben hier erg blij mee tijdens mijn tweehonderdste Grand Prix en dit is een van mijn beste drie rondjes uit mijn carrière. Ik wist dat ik alles moest geven en dat ik zo'n ronde moest rijden en het geeft een goed gevoel dat dat gelukt is. Het was lange tijd niet duidelijk hoe we ervoor zouden staan in vergelijking met Red Bull, want ze waren snel op de supersofts in Q2."

Daniel Ricciardo neemt op de startopstelling plaats naast Rosberg met zijn superzachte banden, maar de Duitser vreest de Australiër niet. "Nee, ik vrees ze niet. Wel hou ik ze in de gaten. Op de vrijdag waren ze snel tijdens de lange runs en competitiever dan tijdens de kwalificatie. Ze zullen dus wel een bedreiging zijn, zeker nu ze op de superzachte band staan."

      Idd, zeer goed gereden van Rosberg, daar kon een "andere coureur" met dezelfde wagen niet veel tegen inbrengen.

      Kun je die naam niet uit je strot krijgen? Die andere is lewis, 3 x wk en leidt dit wk met 2 punten en morgen worden de punten verdeeld.
      En afgelopen 3 jaar was het andersom.

      Die had niet dezelfde wagen dit weekend, hydraulische problemen. Maar dat was je even vergeten. Maar dat doet niets af aan de prestatie van Rosberg.

    Pfff wat een ronde, zet Ham gewoon op een hele dikke afstand. Nico laat nog wel eens wat steekjes vallen, maar dit weekend laat hij (tot op heden, laten we de race afwachten) zien dat hij echt voor die titel gaat.

    Nadat Ham hem gepasseerd was in het klassement had ik geen stuiver meer voor Nico gegeven, slechts stille hoop dat hij het nog spannend ging houden.
