Romain Grosjean: "Vertrouwen is bijna tot nulpunt gedaald"

Haas-coureur Romain Grosjean beleeft tot nu toe een dramatisch weekend op het Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore. De eerste training werd vrijwel helemaal gemist vanwege een technische probleem, in de tweede training reed Grosjean zelf schade en miste belangrijke tijd. Ook in de kwalificatie ging het mis en belandde de ervaren Fransman in de baanafscheiding. Volgens Grosjean is zijn vertrouwen bijna tot het nulpunt gedaald.

Grosjean reed een veertiende tijd in de kwalificatie, maar kreeg na de kwalificatie een gridstraf van vijf plaatsen vanwege een versnellingsbakwissel. De bak raakte beschadigd vanwege de schuiver die Grosjean in de slotfase van Q2 maakte. Grosjean heeft weinig vertrouwen in de race.

"Het vertrouwen in de auto is momenteel erg laag. Dat is ook wel logisch na een spin op hoge snelheid en een crash vanwege spinnen tijdens het remmen. Toen we voor het eerst naar buiten gingen voelde de auto meteen al vreemd aan en worstelen met de set-up. De technische problemen weten we de oorzaak nog niet van, maar het is niet normaal om twee keer te spinnen in twee dagen. Ik heb geen idee wat er aan de hand is", aldus een teleurgestelde Grosjean.

Ik word echt doodmoe van die Grosjean. Iedere week klaagt hij steen en been. Het ligt altijd aan de auto en nooit aan hemzelf. Guttierez is geen wereldrijder maar die doet tenminste nog gewoon zijn werk zonder de hele dag af te geven op zijn team.

    Jammer jongen, misschien toch de verkeerde keus gemaakt met de overstap naar Haas. Maar ik hoop dat je weer een leuke race laat zien.

      Ik kan het mij wel voorstellen dat hij geen vertrouwen heeft. De auto brak raar uit, het was na een minimale oneffenheid op de baan.
      Denk niet dat hij Grosjean iets kan opschuiven in de race.

      Ja, hij brak uit. Kan ook door rembalans zijn.
      Voorafgaand zag je dat hij al iets over de baan uit balans ging.
      Door een 'hobbeltje'.

    Nou ja soms heb je van die weekenden maar dat hij vervolgens in een lizard-pak probeerde het hazepad te kiezen valt niet goed te praten.
    Het is dat Max hem zag lopen en erbij lapte anders had Romain alweer in Zwitserland gezeten nu. Denk dat daar het laatste woord nog niet over gesproken is bij Haas.

    Natuurlijk maken ze fouten bij Haas, maar dit is niet de manier om je team door te ontwikkelen. Daar is Grosjean, die echt wel een potje kan trappen, gewoon niet geschikt voor.
