Button en Alonso weten niet wat ze kunnen verwachten van race

McLaren-coureurs Fernando Alonso en Jenson Button weten niet wat ze kunnen verwachten van de Grand Prix van Singapore. Fernando Alonso drong door tot Q3 en start als negende, terwijl Jenson Button zijn snelle rondje niet af kon maken na een lekke band, veroorzaakt door een flinke kus met de muur.

Jenson Button vat zijn weekend tot dusver samen als 'erg moeilijk'. Een aantal veranderingen voor de kwalificatie zorgden er wel voor dat de Brit het vertrouwen in de auto heeft: "Tot de kwalificatie hadden we het echt lastig. In de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag is er flink gewerkt om de auto beter te maken en dat pakte gelukkig goed uit. In de derde training paste ik nog wat dingen aan en toen had ik het vertrouwen in de auto. In de laatste run in Q2 ging ik iets te wijd in bocht 14 en raakte ik de muur. De impact zorgde voor een lekke band, het was mijn eigen fout. Gekeken naar onze snelheid op de lange runs kunnen we een lastige race verwachten, maar een paar Safety Car-fases kunnen onze kansen doen keren. Alles is mogelijk."

Fernando Alonso drong wel door tot Q3 en is tevreden met zijn kwalificatie:
"We worstelen nog steeds met de snelheid, dus in Q3 komen was een goede prestatie. De strategie in de race vormt de sleutel tot een goed resultaat, hopelijk komt er nog een keerpunt voor ons. As we een goede start hebben en naar voren kunnen komen dan is een goed resultaat zeker mogelijk."
