Fernando Alonso: "Onze vorm verschilt per circuit"

Fernando Alonso start de Grand Prix van Japan vanaf een teleurstellende veertiende startplaats. Teamgenoot Jenson Button deed het met een zeventiende plaats nog iets minder goed. Op het thuiscircuit van Honda lijkt het pakket van McLaren niet zo sterk als de afgelopen races. Volgens Alonso verschilt de vorm van McLaren per circuit en dat geldt ook voor de teams waar McLaren mee strijdt.

Alonso na de kwalificatie: "Een veertiende startplaats is teleurstellend, maar we weten dat we hier tekort komen. De auto voelt zeker niet slecht aan, we missen gewoon snelheid. De laatste tijd zien we dat de verhoudingen per circuit flink kunnen verschillen in het middenveld. In Singapore was Toro Rosso bijvoorbeeld erg sterk, terwijl Haas hier weer erg sterk lijkt."
