Daniel Ricciardo als cowboy op een ranch in Texas

Red Bull Racing-coureur Daniel Ricciardo arriveerde in stijl in Texas voor de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten van komend weekend. De Australiër nam samen met zijn bagage plaats op een pick-up truck, die hem vervoerde naar een ranch. Daar kon Ricciardo zich uitleven met hooi verzamelen, lasso werpen en BBQ-en.

De viervoudig Grand Prix-winnaar vermaakte zich kostelijk. "Ik heb een geweldige tijd achter de rug. Ik geniet thuis ook van de Outback, ik heb een paar vrienden die daar boerderijen bestieren. Na afloop van het Formule 1-seizoen ga ik daar altijd heen om de hele dag op motoren te crossen en 's avonds lekker biertjes te drinken."

"Hier in Texas ging het er iets zwaarder aan toe, want ik werd echt aan het werk gezet! Het was nog steeds cool, leuk om eens iets totaal anders te ervaren dan we gewend zijn. De omgeving beviel me enorm. Het is erg ontspannend. Die hooibalen zijn wel zwaar, zwaarder dan ik verwachtte, dus ik moest me nog inspannen ook. Vermoeiend."

      Hij heeft wel even nog zo'n rooie stieren petje op, op foto 1. Maar het zou leuk zijn als ze bij RBR met zo'n cowboyhoed op de presentatie komen opdagen.

    Met de Lederhose in Oostenrijk vond ik het nog wel grappig, maar je kunt ook doorslaan. Net als al die filmpjes die RBR publiceert wat je allemaal in 1.92 seconden kunt doen.

    Eén keer doen: leuk.

      Inderdaad die filmpjes van 1.92 vond ik ook een beetje simpel worden, maar ik vind het cultuur snuiven bij iedere Grand Prix toch wel mooi, zoals Red Bull dit doet. Het team kan nog even genieten en wellicht neemt de druk wat af voor het raceweekend.

      Maar los daarvan: ik mag toch aangeven dat ik er wel een beetje klaar mee ben?
      Jij vindt het wellicht wel interessant: prima! Ik wil alleen maar aangeven dat zo af en toe eens iets ludieks prima te verteren is, maar als men dat hier ook al gaat herhalen dan ben ik wel een beetje klaar mee.
      Wat krijgen we straks in Mexico: Max met een sombrero? Nou verrassend hoor en nieuwswaarde heeft het al helemaal niet.

      Sainz is ook de eerste en enige coureur die de 24h van Le Mans in z'n eentje gaat winnen, die rijd flluitend als Berdien Stenberg door de vermoeidheid heen. Af en toe stopt hij even om er zelf nieuwe bandjes onder te schroeven en wat peut in de tank knikkeren. Het team staat hem ondertussen al 24 bijna uur op de pitmuur op te wachten met hun spaanse vlaggetjes met een grote 1 erop. Team Verstappen met Max, Frits van Eerd en pappa Jos worden knap 2e op 6 ronden achterstand.

      Daarnaast rijdt Sainz jr. aan één stuk door z'n rondje tijdens de Dakar Rally, waarvan hij echt niet begrijpt waarom het de zwaarste rally aller tijden is. 'Slapen is voor homo's..' staat achterop z'n bolide i.p.v. 'eat my cheese'.

      Hij zit vast weer op een kamertje opgesloten video's te kijken van de start voor de jiste strategie.
