Beste kwalificatie van het seizoen voor Nico Hülkenberg

Waar Sergio Perez voor zijn thuispubliek teleurstelde met een twaalfde startplaats, kwam Nico Hülkenberg in de andere Force India wel sterk voor de dag. De Duitser, die na dit seizoen verhuist naar Renault, reed zijn beste kwalificatie van het seizoen en start de race als vijfde, voor beide Ferrari's en nog belangrijker: voor beide auto's van Williams.

Het is voor Hülkenberg al de derde keer dit jaar dat hij vanuit de top vijf een race mag aanvangen, een bevestiging van de progressie die Force India dit jaar heeft geboekt: "Ik ben echt heel blij. Mijn eerste ronde in het derde deel van de kwalificatie was echt een superrondje. Ik denk dat het mijn beste ronde van het seizoen was. Dat we hier voor Ferrari kwalificeren, verrast me wel een beetje. De auto werd steeds beter en het lukte ons het maximale uit de banden te halen. Ik kijk uit naar de race: hopelijk gaat het deze keer wel goed en zijn we niet na een rondje klaar."
