Toto Wolff: "Niets mis met relatie tussen mij en Ross Brawn"

Volgens Toto Wolff, directeur motorsport bij Mercedes, is er niets mis in de relatie tussen hem en voormalig teambaas Ross Brawn. Brawn stapte na het seizoen 2013 op om volgens eigen zeggen meer tijd te kunnen besteden aan zijn familie en hobby's. In het boek over Ross Brawn, dat komende uitkomt, laat Brawn echter weten dat gebrek aan vertrouwen hem heeft doen besluiten Mercedes te verlaten.

Volgens Wolff is er niets aan de hand en hebben hij en Brawn een goed gesprek gehad na de onthullingen in het boek 'Total Competition - Lessons in strategy from Formula 1'. Wolff: "Er is veel te doen om het boek dat is geschreven door Ross Brawn. Voor mij zijn er geen problemen, Ross Brawn heeft veel goede dingen over ons gezegd. Er is geen vertrouwensbreuk tussen mij, Niki Lauda en Ross Brawn.

Wolff laat verder weten het plan van Liberty Media om Ross Brawn als voorzitter naar voren te schuiven, te steunen. Liberty Media nam eerder dit jaar de commerciële rechten van Formule 1 over van Bernie Ecclestone: "Ross Brawn heeft veel ervaring, is de juiste persoonlijkheid en heeft de technische kennis om Formule 1 vooruit te brengen. Omdat hij al een paar jaar uit de sport is, kijkt hij met een neutrale blik naar de dingen en dat is goed voor de ontwikkeling van Formule 1."

Ach dat boek moet ook verkocht worden dus moet er ook wat in staan. En ik heb ook wel eens geen vertrouwen in mijn baas maar een tijdje later is het toch weer goed. Ik herken het verhaal wel.
