Nasr in de wachtkamer door sponsorperikelen

Marcus Ericsson blijft zo goed als zeker bij het team van Sauber, terwijl teamgenoot Felipe Nasr in de wachtkamer is geplaatst. Dat bericht brengt Autosport. De Braziliaan zou graag nog een seizoen bij de Zwitserse renstal blijven, zeker nu de meeste andere stoeltjes voor 2017 inmiddels bezet zijn.

Nasr zal echter nog even geduld moeten betrachten, omdat de onderhandelingen tussen zijn begeleiders en sponsor Banco do Brasil stroef verlopen. Banco do Brasil is dit jaar onder leiding van een nieuwe voorzitter komen te staan en die houdt er andere ideeën over (de waarde van) de Formule 1 op na. Daardoor hebben de gesprekken met Sauber vertraging opgelopen.

"Ik ben niet gefrustreerd, dit is gewoon hoe de vlag erbij hangt", begint Nasr. "Sauber is een aantrekkelijke optie voor volgend jaar. Ze hebben veel nieuw personeel aangetrokken, de boel geherstructureerd en de weg naar boven ingeslagen. Ik zie veel positieve ontwikkelingen binnen het team met de focus op 2017. Sauber gaat volgend jaar heel anders voor de dag komen."

Ericsson over zijn situatie: "Er zijn niet zoveel opties meer. Het is waarschijnlijk dat ik verder ga bij Sauber. Het team gaat de goede kant op. Er zijn veel nieuwe mensen vastgelegd en het ziet er stukken beter uit dan aan het begin van het seizoen. Een paar maanden geleden was dit niet zo'n attractieve optie voor volgend jaar, maar nu zeker wel."

Heel anders inderdaad, dan gelijk in de staart meedraaien in plaats van een nog enigzins redelijke plek ondanks dat het puntloos blijft en zal blijven. Als ze een motorblok van 2017 zouden laten zetten ad het misschien nog een kans gehad, nu is het zeker kansloos en zal het voor de rode lantaarn aan zijn en mag het het stokje overnemen van manor.

Ziet er goed uit voor volgend jaar......voor het eerst met een oude motor dezelfde als dit jaar.......compleet nieuw chassis als een van de laatste nog geen complete rijders lineup......na een paar races weer de geruchten dat ze de volgende race niet halen.......gelukkig het enige team waarbij het niet spannend is waar ze volgend jaar ongeveer staan....... lekker achteraan.
