Fernando Alonso: "Morgen strijden voor de punten"

Fernando Alonso wist in de laatste kwalificatie van dit seizoen, door te dringen tot Q3 en hield daarin zelfs nog Felipe Massa achter zich. De Spanjaard kan in de laatste wedstrijd van het seizoen weer gaan knokken voor de punten en McLaren lijkt, mede door de problemen bij Toro Rosso dit weekend, zeker van de zesde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap. De Spanjaard was dan ook gematigd tevreden over zijn kwalificatie.

"We kunnen tevreden zijn. Het was een goede kwalificatie voor ons, zeker gezien de moeilijke omstandigheden met de wisselende temperatuur. Maar we hebben daar goed op geanticipeerd met veranderingen aan de setup en de auto voelde in ieder geval goed. In de laatste kwalificatie Q3 halen en op P9 mogen starten is natuurlijk mooi, zeker aangezien we normaal niet verder komen dan P10 in Q3."

"Morgen gaan we strijden voor de punten en gaan we proberen nog verder naar voren te eindigen. Normaal gesproken zijn de Force India's sneller, hun racepace zal waarschijnlijk ook beter zijn dan die van ons. Daarachter wordt het een mooi gevecht tussen Williams, Haas, McLaren en Renault, want wij zitten qua racepace allemaal erg dicht bij mekaar, maar we hopen de anderen natuurlijk allemaal voor te blijven."

Nog even een mooie, gekke race als afsluiter en hopelijk vlammen volgend seizoen.

  Ik hoop van harte dat er volgend seizoen weer wat te strijden valt hem
