Wehrlein voor de vijfde keer in Q2, Ocon spreekt van dramatische kwalificatie

Voor de vijfde keer dit seizoen lukte het Pascal Wehrlein zijn Manor in Q2 te rijden. De Duitser start de race als zestiende en is erg blij met zijn kwalificatie. In de andere MRT05 beleefde Esteban Ocon een naar eigen zeggen dramatische kwalificatie. De Fransman zal de race als twintigste aanvangen.

Wehrlein, die nog niet zeker is van een stoeltje voor volgend seizoen, is blij met zijn prestatie in de kwalificatie: "Erg leuk om mijn laatste kwalificatie van dit seizoen op een positieve manier af te sluiten. In Q2 had ik maar een setje ultrazachte banden, de zestiende plek was dan ook het maximaal haalbare. Ik ben erg blij met de zestiende plek en wil het team bedanken voor de goede auto! Ik houd van dit circuit, maar onze auto pas niet goed bij deze baan. Het is positief dat we voor beide Saubers starten, hopelijk lukt het een bijzonder resultaat te halen en iedereen binnen het team met een lach op vakantie te sturen."

Aan de andere kant van de garage een minder vrolijke Esteban Ocon. De Fransman rijdt morgen zijn laatste race in dienst van Manor en stapt volgend seizoen over naar het meer competitieve Force India. Ocon over zijn kwalificatie: "Mijn kwalificatie was een ramp! In de laatste training zag het er nog goed uit, maar op de ultrazachte banden kreeg ik het niet voor elkaar. Pascal Wehrlein ging steeds sneller, terwijl ik wel stil leek te staan. We moeten kijken wat er fout is gegaan, ik denk dat er een probleem met de auto was. Onze racesnelheid is niet verkeerd. Hopelijk hebben we een goede start en kunnen we een sterke race rijden."

Oh was het weer een probleem met de auto Esteban? Je bent gewoon weer geklopt door Pascal en van je grote mond dat je in no time wel op het niveau van Perez zit is nog maar weinig zichtbaar.. Vooralsnog heeft Perez met al zijn auto's podiums gereden en delf jij veel en veel te vaak het onderspit tov Pascal.

  Haha, daar moest ik na Q ook meteen aan denken, dat hij onlangs had gezegd niet voor Perez onder te zullen doen. We gaan het zien.
  Tenzij Pascal een betere coureur dan Perez zou zijn natuurlijk, maar dat geloof ik ook niet direct.

De conclusie dat er voor hem niet zo enorm veel te leren is trekt hij snel. Externe oorzaak ja, tuurlijk.

Ervaring is inmiddels ook de reden dat hij niet meer in de buurt van Max zit. Verschillende teams, strijden voor overwinningen en podia, alle banen 2x gereden hebben, kwalificaties altijd tot de Q3... Maar Ocon denkt vast "in 2014 was ik bijna net zo goed, dat ben ik nu dus ook".

Ik zeg het al een tijdje die Wehrlein verdient een promotie. Voor de 5e keer Q2 en in 90% van zijn gefinishde races eindigt hij voor zijn teamgenoot.

Tuurlijk verdient Ocon het meer als Wehlein Ocon heeft tegeb max geraces en max is de beste coureur in de geschiedenis aldus de
" blinde" max fans.

  Nee hoor, Ocon verdient het ook niet, net zoals die 20 andere prutscoureurs die op de grid staan.
  F1 is Max, niets meer, niets minder.
  De rest word gewoon gedegradeerd naar GP2 coureur.
