Max Verstappen test dinsdag nieuwe Pirelli-banden

Na de Grand Prix blijft Max Verstappen nog even in Abu Dhabi. De jonge Nederlander test aanstaande dinsdag voor het eerst met de 2017 Pirelli-banden. Verstappen rijdt een halve dag en denkt zich in die tijd een goed beeld te kunnen vormen van het nieuwe rubber.

Naast Red Bull komen ook Ferrari en Mercedes aanstaande week in actie om de nieuwe banden verder te testen. Genoemde teams en Red Bull zijn de enige teams die al met de bredere 2017 banden hebben getest. De tests worden uitgevoerd met een auto uit 2015 die voorzien is van extra neerwaartse druk om de omstandigheden voor het volgende seizoen te simuleren.

De verwachting is dat de rondetijden met ongeveer vier seconden omlaag gaan door een grotere hoeveelheid grip. Verstappen testte voor het raceweekend in Abu Dhabi al in de simulator van Red Bull met de 2017-auto.
