Max Verstappen: "Winnen van prijzen is een mooie erkenning"

Max Verstappen kreeg gisteren wederom twee awards uitgeraakt tijdens het FIA Prize Giving Awards Gala in Wenen. De jonge Nederlander pakte net als vorig jaar de prijs voor persoonlijkheid van het jaar en inhaalactie van het jaar. Verstappen laat vanuit Wenen weten blij te zijn met de prijzen en kijkt uit naar volgend jaar.

"Dat ik weer in het vliegtuig mag stappen met deze twee prijzen is een mooie erkenning. Zelf kijk ik met een heel tevreden gevoel terug op mijn tweede seizoen in de Formule 1. Ik had nooit verwacht dat het zo goed zou lopen. Hoogtepunten voor mij waren dit jaar natuurlijk mijn eerste overwinning in Spanje en de regenrace in Brazilië. Dat zijn momenten die me nog heel lang bij zullen blijven",aldus Verstappen vanuit Wenen.

Ach waarom niet? Een waarde oordeel is subjectief, kwestie van smaak. Dat een jong mens als Max een stukje waarde(ering) krijgt daar is niets mis mee. Hij heeft het goed gedaan, heeft een toegevoegde amusementswaarde en loopt lekker nuchter in en niet naast zijn schoenen. Zolang het niet "gewoon"... [Lees verder]

    Ik weet niet of je hier echt waarde aan moet toekennen. We hebben immers met de Driver of the Day dit jaar al gezien dat wanneer je fans laat stemmen, dit niet noodzakelijk tot een terechte uitslag hoeft te leiden. Als ik zelf kijk naar alle nominaties van actie van het jaar, staat de inzending van de F1 ergens in de middenmoot. Zijn actie op Rosberg is overigens niet eens Max zijn mooiste actie van het jaar imo. Alleen in die race al, was de inhaalactie op Perez mooier.

      De prijs voor 'Persoonlijkheid van het jaar' wordt bepaald door de geaccrediteerde media. Daar hebben internetstemmers geen invloed op. Maar het betekent ook alleen maar dat hij goed ligt bij de journalisten.
      De 'Actie van het jaar' wordt wel door internetstemmen bepaald, en de 'Driver of the Day' verkiezing bij de GP in Austin heeft inderdaad laten zien dat een internetpoll niets voorsteld.

      Persoonlijkheid van het jaar is dan nog wel een mooie award. Maar het andere stelt niets voor.

      Zou wat mij betreft veel mooier zijn als iedere bij de FIA aangesloten coureur zou kunnen stemmen op de actie van het jaar. Dat geeft zo'n award een stuk meer glans dan wanneer fanboys 80 keer op de knop van hun favoriet drukken. Het is gewoon een populariteitswedstrijd zo.

      De internetstemmers laten in ieder geval wel zien wie de meest daadwerkelijke fans wereldwijd heeft, die zich niet te beroerd voelen om te stemmen. En dat is ook een hoop waard.

      - Engeland
      - Maleisië
      - Japan
      - USA
      - Brazilië

      Alleen USA was waarschijnlijk niet terecht. Die andere 7 keer was er geen andere coureur die hem meer verdiende.

      De actie op Rosberg vond ik de allermooiste, gewoon om Verstappen daar op de limiet te zien en ook omdat het tegen de leider in het kampioenschap was met de allerbeste wagen.

      ah op de FIA website onder 'news' valt alles terug te lezen. Rookie of the year is geen F1 rijder. Ik dacht dat elke race catagorie zn eigen awards had.
