Alonso: "Alleen competitieve auto ontbreekt nog"

Fernando Alonso heeft in zijn vijftienjarige Formule 1-carrière nooit eerder voor zo'n kwalitatief hoogstaand team als McLaren-Honda gewerkt. Dat ving Autosport op van de Spanjaard. Alonso keerde begin 2015 terug bij McLaren. De Britse renstal vertoefde vorig jaar in de staart van de middenmoot. Dit seizoen werd wel wat progressie geboekt, maar het houdt nog niet over. Toch is Alonso lyrisch over het niveau in Woking.

"Ik ben blij, ik zit bij het beste team uit mijn loopbaan", begint de tweevoudig kampioen. "De hoeveelheid kennis en de aandacht voor details zijn hier groter dan waar dan ook. De analyses, het werk in de fabriek en de filosofie achter het ontwerp van de auto zijn anders dan ik gewend was. De input en invloed van de coureurs is hier veel groter. Het enige dat ontbreekt is een competitieve auto. Qua organisatie en dat soort dingen is dit team geweldig."

Laat ze het in Maranello maar niet horen. Alonso: "Ik heb vijf fantastische jaren gehad bij Ferrari. Als ik de afgelopen twee jaar voor Ferrari geracet had, dan zou ik zeer gefrustreerd zijn. Toen ik nog voor de Scuderia uitkwam, knokte ik tenminste nog voor het kampioenschap. Nu rijden ze voor vijfde en zesde plekken, zelfs achter Red Bull Racing. Ik voelde me uitstekend bij Ferrari en ik hield van het team, maar de tijd was na 2014 rijp om afscheid van elkaar te nemen."

      Als je in via een Frans team naar een Italiaans team gaat kan ik me voorstellen dat een Engels/Japans team ineens een hele verademing is.

      Is nog steeds mijn team, maar kan me levendig voorstellen dat het niet de makkelijkste werkgever is.

    Mooie opmerking: De input en invloed van de coureurs is hier veel groter.
    Hij zegt dus dat McLaren naar de coureurs luistert. Button heeft hier jaren gereden en was niet in staat een cometitieve auto neer te laten zetten. Hamilton heeft hier jaren gereden en slechs 1 kampioenschap gehaald. Ik rijd hier nu al 2 jaar en heb nog helemaal geen competitieve auto gehad. Dus blijkbaar is het mooi dat ze zo goed luisteren, maar zijn wij geen van drie-en in staat de input te leveren waar ze ook daadwerkelijk iets mee kunnen.

      Ik denk dat ze al twee jaar of meer met de auto van dit jaar bezig zijn en het zou zomaar kunnen dat ze volgend jaar om de prijzen meedoen.

    geniaal. Het beste team waar hij gereden heeft, maar waarin zijn ze nou zo goed dan? want het ontbreekt aan een competatieve auto :)

    Volgens mij doelt hij hierop ook dat mclaren altijd innovatief te werk gaat en nieuwe en snel onderdelen ontwikkelt voor de auto.

    Nja, Alonso zoals we hem kennen. Zo nu en dan met het nodige venijn in de staart.
    Overigens ook wel raar dat hij zegt dat hij gefrustreerd zou zijn mocht hij de laatste 2 jaren bij Ferrari zou geraced hebben.

    ...juist Fernando, want bij jou was er ook geen enkele vorm van frustratie te bespeuren deze laatste twee seizoenen...

    Swat...op naar 2017 dus.

    Vul dan in het interview een willekeurige coureur in van een willekeurig team uit de sub-top of lager en hoppatee, het verhaal klopt ook.

    Enige wat ie zegt hier is dat hij een goed salaris heeft en het naar z'n zin heeft..

    Daarom legt Jost Capito zijn functie neer als CEO Racing bij McLaren.
    Hoe lang heeft hij er gewerkt? 4 Maanden??

    Hij denkt er dus anders over dan Alonso. :-)
