Kevin Magnussen: "Meestal als ik een probleem heb, komt dat door 'overdriving'"

Kevin Magnussen kreeg de afgelopen weken flinke kritiek te verwerken van zijn voormalige werkgever Renault. De 24-jarige Deen maakte de overstap naar Haas F1 team en liet zich ook behoorlijk negatief uit over Renault en verwachtte dat zijn vorige team de komende jaren nog in de onderste regionen in de Formule 1 zou bivakkeren. Magnussen laat zich in een interview deze week echter zelfkritisch uit.

"Meestal als ik een probleem heb, komt dat door 'overdriving'," gaf de Deen toe tegenover tijdens een media briefing die Haas deze week organiseerde. "Maar daarom zullen de auto's die dit jaar meer downforce en bredere banden hebben me beter liggen, dus ik kijk erg uit naar komend seizoen."

"Het is erg mooi om dit jaar in de Formule 1 te rijden, want als de verwachtingen uitkomen, zijn dit de snelste Formule 1-auto's ooit. Ik ben deze winter niet echt op vakantie geweest. Ik ben vooral thuis in Denemarken geweest om aan mijn fitheid te werken. We weten namelijk niet wat er precies van ons gevraagd wordt qua fysieke gesteldheid, dus bereid ik me maar zo goed mogelijk voor."

    Ik ben benieuwd naar het verschil tussen de twee nieuwe teamgenoten... ik schat Grosjean persoonlijk hoger in al denk ik dat Magnussen goed in de buurt zal zitten.

      Op basis van wat beiden tot nu toe hebben laten zien is het aannemelijk dat Romain gehakt van hem maakt. Hølf om hølf gehakt zou Magnussen zeggen.

      Je dient wel rekening te houden met de natuurkundige constanten, en feitelijk vaststellen dat dhr. Grosjean het niet vreemd is alvorens de race begint zijn auto even in de muur te jakkeren.

      Nou zijn beide coureur een aanfluiting tot de met, maar in dat geval is Magnussen de betere van de 2 ... (het woord "betere" wordt hier werkelijk tot het uiterste beproeft in deze context)

    Lijkt me dat als je weet dat ‘overdriving’ je probleem is, je daaraan gaat werken om het op te lossen? En je niet wacht op een nieuwe auto die jouw problemen oplost.

      En ansicht was hij die race niet eens veel slechter qua resultaat dan de rest van het seizoen... T'viel gewoon net iets meer op door de berg schade.

    Ik heb wel ooit een auto gehad met een over-drive..... Die gebruikte ik ook wel is.. overdreven, overdrevener ,overdrijven, overgedreven....

    Overdriving the car:

    Te gespannen proberen hard te gaan, op het moment dat je ontspant en je voor gevoel langzaam gaat vliegen je rondetijden drastisch omlaag (de goede kant op)

    Waar Kevin toch ook een beetje toegeeft dat hij onder druk werd gezet door Jolyon Palmer en dat Kevin voor zijn gevoel harder moest en dat hij eigenlijk vanzichzelf te langzaam is en door een rookie die bekend staat als goed coureur maar een slowstarter in elke klasse.

    Misschien dus toch terecht te licht bevonden door McLaren

      Het schijnt dat Ron Dennis moest aftreden nadat hij het Übertalent Magnussen zo heeft laten lopen. Volgens een niet nader te noemen bron is het voltallige, maar liefst 1000 koppig tellend personeelsbestand van McLaren het er unaniem over eens dat met het behouden van Magnussen ze in Rusland al de titel hadden kunnen veiligstellen.

      Dat is wat er rond gaat ...
