Plek bij Mercedes duurder voor sponsor Bottas

Wihuri, een trouwe persoonlijke sponsor van Valtteri Bottas, volgde de Fin deze winter van Williams naar Mercedes. Wihuri, een industrieel conglomeraat, heeft een éénjarig contract met de Duitse renstal afgesloten. Daarvoor moet het wel dieper in de buidel tasten dan bij Williams.

Wihuri-baas Antti Aarnio-Wihuri verklaart in Iltalehti: "Natuurlijk kost het bij Mercedes wat meer, dat is logisch. Het nieuwe contract is moeilijk te vergelijken met dat met Williams. We zijn iets duurder uit, maar niet significant veel. De onderhandelingen kostten weinig moeite. Ik ken Toto Wolff goed en we hadden al snel een overeenkomst bereikt. We zaten gelijk op één lijn."

Bottas krijgt bij Mercedes een unieke kans om voor de regerend kampioen te racen. Aarnio-Wihuri: "Valtteri verkeert in een positieve stemming. Het is altijd zijn droom geweest om in een winnende auto plaats te nemen en nu is het eindelijk zover. Valtteri kijkt enorm uit naar de start van het seizoen."

    Kortom, Wihuri betaalt (een gedeelte van) het salaris van Bottas, die niet veel te dik is maar wel zwaarlijvig is en zware botten heeft. ;)

    Bottas wilde een snellere auto, dan moet je dus meer betalen.
