Sauber laat alvast stoeltje voor Giovinazzi maken

Antonio Giovinazzi heeft zijn seat fitting bij het team van Sauber al achter de rug. Dat claimt Roger Benoit van de Zwitserse krant Blick. Giovinazzi geldt bij Sauber als optie om Pascal Wehrlein eventueel te vervangen tijdens de eerste testweek in Barcelona.

Wehrlein heeft last van een nekblessure nadat hij bij de Race of Champions in Miami over de kop vloog. De Duitser zal nog een medische keuring moeten doorstaan voordat hij toestemming krijgt om deel te nemen aan de eerste test. Giovinazzi staat in elk geval op stand-by.

De Italiaan eindigde vorig jaar als runner-up in de GP2 en Ferrari pikte hem op als reserverijder. Sauber is nu in gesprek met de Scuderia om ook van de diensten van Giovinazzi gebruik te kunnen maken dit jaar. De Zwitserse renstal onthult de nieuwe C36 op 20 februari.

Wel knap dat ze zo snel een stoeltje kunnen schuimen, toen Giedo dat wilde voor 2 jaar terug duurde dat meer dan een maand volgens Sauber. Techniek staat niet stil zullen we maar zeggen ;-).
