McLaren kiest ook voor controversiële ophanging

Nu Mercedes en Red Bull lijken vast te houden aan het controversiële ophangingssysteem, heeft ook McLaren gekozen om dit systeem op hun nieuwe bolide te monteren. Dit terwijl er waarschijnlijk een protest zal worden ingediend tegen het gebruik van deze ophanging, omdat het te veel op het verboden active-ophangingsysteem zou lijken. De FIA heeft voorlopig nog geen uitspraak gedaan over de legaliteit van deze ophanging, maar mocht Ferrari daadwerkelijk een protest indienen na de eerste race in Melbourne, zal de federatie daar alsnog toe gedwongen worden.

Volgens de technisch directeur van McLaren, Matt Morris neemt de Britse renstal door het kiezen voor dit nieuwe ophangingssysteem geen risico, zo meldt hij aan Auto, Motor und Sport: "Wij geloven dat dit systeem legaal is. Als iemand ertegen wil protesteren, zullen de regels aangepast moeten worden. Het handigste zou zijn om er nu over in discussie te gaan, maar de regels pas voor 2018 aan te passen."

De eerste testweek verloopt overigens nog niet heel goed voor McLaren. Fernando Alonso moet noodgedwongen in de pits blijven door een probleem met de motor, de vraag is of hij vandaag nog in actie kan komen.

Dit is goed, ook in het voordeel van RBR en Merc dat er nog een derde team mee gaat rijden, meer steun :) De regels zijn blijkbaar nog niet duidelijk genoeg...Protesteren zal waarschijnlijk geen zin hebben...

Blijkbaar heeft Ferrari, toen ze het systeem voor hebben gelegd bij de Fia, het systeem van Mercedes aangegeven. Dus vandaar dat Ferrari straks of een protest indient of dat het systeem wordt gedoogt. En dan hebben ze het zelfde systeem.
