Boullier: "Geen problemen tussen McLaren en Honda na issue olietank"

McLaren zegt dat het de problemen op de eerste dag van de wintertest in Barcelona niet zag aankomen. Tijdens de filmdag afgelopen zondag waren er immers geen problemen geweest.

Fernando Alonso kwam na een eerste ronde langs de kant te staan. Racing Director Eric Boullier hierover tegen Autosport: "Wij weten alleen dat het een probleem was met het oliesysteem. Honda heeft gevraagd om de motor terug te sturen waarna zij zullen uitzoeken wat het probleem exact was."

Aan het einde van de testdag was de kleinere, lichtere en anders gevormde olietank de oorzaak van de problemen op de eerste dag in Barcelona. Een definitieve oplossing wordt morgen verwacht.

Op de vraag hoe Honda reageerde zegt Boullier: "Ze reageerden professioneel zoals je mag verwachten. Zij waren teleurgesteld maar begonnen gelijk te bellen met Sakuara in Japan en gingen ook met ons om tafel zitten."

De verwachting is dat een goede motor van Honda gaat bepalen wat Fernando Alonso na 2017 gaat doen en met het oog daarop waren de problemen niet ideaal zo gaf Boullier toe. “Natuurlijk wist Alonso van minuut tot minuut wat er gebeurde en hij was niet erg vrolijk vanochtend.”

Boullier vindt niet dat er gelijkenissen zijn met 2015 toen de voorbereidingen ook niet soepel verliepen met Honda. "We hebben de afgelopen jaren een positieve en constructieve relatie opgebouwd en ik denk niet dat dit de komende tijd zal veranderen."

Ben bang dat RB teveel problemen heeft de eerste paar racen Merc heeft dan al een giga voorsprong zal denk ik alleen om de dag successen gaan.

  Uberhaupt: waarom na 1 dag testen al vrezen voor problemen bij RB? Het is allemaal zo vroeg....pas bij de 1e kwalificatie in Melbourne kunnen we iets meer (echt) weten hoe de verhoudingen liggen....

Ik vind dat RB na zoveel verloren tijd nog op een respectabele afstand van Mercedes en Ferrari is geeindigd. En daarbij. Het is pas de eerste dag. Mercedes en Ferrari zullen ook nog wel tegen problemen aanlopen.

  Ik houd even een slag om de arm, aangezien ik bij sommige artikelen opeens geen reacties meer kan zien, terwijl die er wel zijn... Wellicht dat er hier iets mis is gegaan aangezien er al meerdere over RB praten ipv McLaren?

Als Honda en Ferrari tegen gaan vallen zal het touwtrekken worden tussen Alonso en Vettel om het stoeltje bij Mercedes. Ik durf de voorspelling wel aan dat Bottas komend jaar niet meer voor Mercedes rijdt, alleen over de opvolger durf ik het nog niet aan.
