Grosjean niet in zijn hum: "Geen makkelijke dag"

Romain Grosjean baalde na afloop van de derde testdag in Barcelona. De Fransman testte vandaag voor het eerst deze week voor Haas F1 Team, maar met 56 ronden kon hij niet tevreden zijn. Diverse kleine problemen speelden hem parten. En met de regenbandentest op het programma voor morgen beschouwt hij deze testweek al als verloren.

Grosjean: "Het was geen makkelijke dag. We kampten met allerlei problemen, onder meer met ERS. Over het algemeen voelt de auto wel goed, de basis is goed. We hebben diverse afstellingen geprobeerd en we hebben goede ideeën over waar we naartoe willen, maar we zijn er nog niet. We hoeven gelukkig nu nog niet op ons best te zijn. Maar deze week is wel klaar, aangezien we morgen op een natte baan testen. De focus ligt op volgende week."

Positiever is hij over de nieuwe generatie auto's en de nieuwe bredere banden. "De nieuwe wagens zijn zeer cool. Het is even wennen, je kunt twintig meter later remmen, maar het is wel gaaf om meer snelheid door de bochten mee te nemen. Zeker in kwalificatietrim op de limiet wordt het smullen, dan heb je ballen nodig. Pirelli heeft ook een goede stap gezet met de banden, je kunt nu langer pushen op hetzelfde setje."

"Voorheen kon een setje meteen bij het grof vuil als je een wiel blokkeerde, nu kun je zonder problemen je weg vervolgen. De banden raken ook minder snel oververhit, al zijn de temperaturen hier niet al te hoog. Maar vorig jaar hadden we tijdens de wintertests veel last van graining en nu totaal niet. De superzachte compound houdt het bijvoorbeeld langer vol dan één snel rondje."

Hij reageerde fel op de vraag van een collega-journalist over vermeende nieuwe remproblemen. Grosjean klaagde vorig jaar geregeld over de remmen en zou nu verklaard hebben dat die deze winter niet zijn verholpen. Maar dat ligt anders, beweert hij. "Leg me geen woorden in de mond, ik heb het niet over problemen met de banden gehad. Ik heb alleen gezegd dat het nog niet perfect is en dat we nog wat dingen moeten adresseren met Brembo, meer niet."

Tja ... Dat krijg je als je Chip Foose je auto laat ontwerpen.
Grosjean moet verder niet mekkeren ... grote kans dat hij de Haas meermaals plat rijdt nog voor de start, dus veel hinder zal hij er niet van ondervinden.

  Bij Magnussen heb ik sterke twijfel over zijn conditie. Zijn nek is een zwanenhals als je het vergeijkt met de gespierde nek van Verstappen. En dat is slechts een voorbeeld.

Dus Grosjean haten vanwege die crash in Monaco? Die crash waar onze maxi-cosi van de meeste kenners de schuld kreeg?

Romain ging het team op sleeptouw nemen door zijn ervaring . Tot nog toe is hij niet verder gekomen dan mopperen en zeuren .
